Picked up new r1200gsLC at Park Lane last week and headed for Gibraltar via, Portsmouth to Santander. I hope all you guys on the boat made it safe as you all must have hit similar weather to me. Bike certainly much quicker than the 2 year model it replaced. Such a relief to have normal switch gear, even though there is quite a lot of it. Tried the cruise control on the A66 in Spain for a about 50 kms at a steady 130km/ph. Can`t see the point really! I had planned the whole trip via B roads heading down through the Picos. Fantastic drive over the picos as the roads were well salted, but unfortunately weather turned nasty near Avila, -2 degrees and blizzards. I had to turn back on one of the unsalted roads, but finally made it to a hot shower in Avila. Such a relief to have not dropped the bike, on some of the walking pace sections of skid pans. Happy to report that the IXS reasonably priced clothing purchased from J&S outside Portsmouth kept me warm and dry. Unfortunately lost a lot of time due to the snow so I had to do a blast down the A66, Mile munching was quite satisfactory and enjoyable to my surprise. Started enjoying the trip proper again from Seville to my home in Jimena via Ronda. Biking Nirvanna and 16 degrees C. So far I have 1800 Ks on the bike and I can`t wait to take it for a spin tomorrow. No greater endorsement in my book

Anyway big thanks to Andrew of Park Lane for his professionalism and to J&S for supplying decent and reasonably priced textiles. Tom

Sounds like a great ride. Jealous.

The road from Ronda to Marbella is a fun one too.

Stupid question. Answered easily.

Do you have more daylight hours near the med than in Britain at this time of the year?

Getting very bored of going to work in the dark and coming home in at as well.

Pretty similar really, light at 08:00 and dark at 18:30 but the advantage is the temp and dryness, usually.

The best 'ride home from the dealers' yet me thinks.
