Hello!

I am planning my first trip to Morocco in April 2010.
Looking for hotels in the cities I want to visit, I am always looking for parking to have our two bikes secured.

How can I find hotels that can guarantee night secured parking?
Are there any RIAD?

I will visit Marrakech, Rabat, Chefchouan, Fes, Meknes, Merzouga, Ouarzazate and other minor villages.

Thank you
Chris

All ...

... hotels will have a night porter, who for a modest fee will either allow you to ride your bike into the foyer, or guard it until you need it again :thumb

In order to find said hotel, you can either research on here and book in advance, then spend hours looking for it and arrive dusty and frustrated; or simply ride to the town you wish to stay at, whereupon you will be approached by a dusky scrote on a moped who will take you to his uncles place, which will have a porter as above.

Thank you guys.

SO there is no doubt about steal of bikes or possible damages....right?

I have seen beautiful Riads in the medina but always they are not reachable with bike so we have to leave bikes outside medina and I am a little scared about it......

if you park the bike outside the hotel you can always pay someone a little bit to watch your bike overnight

We stayed in the Medina in Marrakesh it can sometimes be a bit tight and you have to watch for the locals on the scoots comming the other way.

We just arrived back from Morocco, my advice is to turn up and search for a hotel rather than try to book one with a garage. The answer will always be 'yes we have a garage' only to find out that they don't or it is a 10minute walk away. City map and a bit of time and patience is necessary.

Make sure you have cash and not credit cards

a couple of the hotels we stayed in the other year were quite accomodating and we were never worried about the bikes:D
"gazelle du sud" a nice little hotel in the middle of alnif, he asked us if we wanted to use the garage? then opened the front doors and we parked two very dirty bikes in the restaurant:eek: does great food too:thumb
"hotel balima" in the middle of rabat, right opposite the parliament, couldn't get the bikes in but the porter moved his desk so he could watch the bikes for the night:thumb

I spent a month in Morocco and only had secure parking twice. Most of the time my bike was parked outside the window of the hotel so that reception could see it. On one occation one of the staff slept outside next to the bikes :-)

The only real danger are the locals looking at them and "playing". I stopped at Merit on the way through. Unloaded my bike, went to the room, looked out the window and some guy was sitting on it play motorbikes - brumm noises and all :eek

Theft: very unlikely
Damage: use your judgement at the time (lots of cars, people and kids in the evening).
People looking and touching: likely.
