There's no point explaining to this lot. Most of them don't understand how business works.
Whilst i have no idea what margin a dealer makes I would suggest comparing listers to a small motorcycle dealership is like comparing Tesco to a corner shop. Anyhoo, all I know is that the guys I know who run a successful dealership have to work bloody hard and have done so for the last 10 years since setting up. They are well off compared to the national average but certainly not rolling in money and to my mind the risk/effort/return ratio ain't been great. I suspect the dealers that are affiliated to larger car dealerships have it easier due to shared costs etc. and the smaller bike only dealers have to compete with those.

Is that the great unwashed you are referring to? People like me who don't give a flying fu*k about macro/micro economics and the bollox you've been spouting about over the last few pages only to have your nose rubbed in it like a 3 week old puppy that just shat in the one place that you did not lay newspaper down on your newly laid parquet flooring, you know, that doozy about how you screwed the dealer on price?!Independent dealer or not, it is in BMW's interest to look after their dealerships - that's how you get market share - if you have a good product. BMW supports their dealers off-season by offering promotions, i'm a grumpy fucker, I want a deal high season low season, any season, and why not if i'm paying best part of 15k on 3.9% APR (when rates are 0.25% currently), and i've just spunked 2.5k up the wall on accessories.
Overall BMW (not dealership) profit margins on bikes is 10.2%, and cars are 10.9%, so the margins are there, so I fully expect those profits to filter down to stealers as an incentive at the very least to get more bikes sold to gain further market share. It is also worth mentioning that funding to dealers has been increased significantly in 2015/2016 also. How do I know all this I hear you ask, well, rather than spouting out guff I researched it:

And the person who posted that a dealer had to raise their ceiling otherwise a sign would hang too low. REALLY? ffs
Now i'm late for a piss up replying to your drivel![]()

We've just had our parquet flooring renovated. The first thing the dog did was skid up and down it, digging her claws in, so it's nice and scratched already. I feel your pain.![]()
Being the person who posted about the roof the answer is YES REALLY. The point being that it is a waste of money that ultimately the customer pays for. As for the margin BMW make....WTF has this got to do with the margin a dealer makes?
Thanks for adding to the drivel.
Still waiting to hear....So getting back on subject what did Devonuk get as a trade in price??
Still waiting to hear....
Would you believe that the dealer "sales executive" emailed me asking a lot of questions about reg no., extras fitted, service history etc. before they could put a deal together. I bought it from them and its been serviced fully by them.... WTF!! Lazy bar steward.... Not impressed.
A wanker like that wouldn't get my attention
Just keep the bike you've got, and when riding it just pretend its a brand new bike. Thats what I do. So far this week I've ridden three 2016 GSA's and and a brand new XR. And it hasn't cost me a penny.
This advice is free.

Part of the reason I'm trading is because I don't like the white, ha. With the white bike and white Schuberth helmet I feel like a police man.
Would it have been cheaper to buy a new non-white helmet?
