Does anyone know wtf is going on with buying spare parts from BMW?

I bought some parts online early in the new year - forgot the shite fest involved.

On Tuesday, I went online (
.co.uk site) and tried to order a new outer FD seal and cover plate - just seen mine is weeping very slightly.

Upon completion online, the site tells me I'll get an SMS from which I'll be instructed to pay. That was Tuesday. This morning I called Park Lane BMW Motorrad (central London), who directed me to their workshop. I call the workshop (different site entirely) who, upon realising I want motorcycle parts, instructs me to send an email to Park Lane with my parts list...

Late afternoon, I finally get the SMS from my venture on Tuesday. So I think "get on with it and pay!". Does that work? No. It's some weird payment process, that falls over, despite all that correct information being input. From there I try to start again but I continually reach a screen telling payment has failed.

What a mess.

Anyone else suffering this ridiculous situation? Anyone got ideas as to why shitification has reached BMW?!

I would just go into a BMW dealer and get them to order the parts.

many .co.uk websites are operated by a non-UK company such as Louis in Germany or just fakes

For me, motorworks were the best place to order genuine parts in the UK. Depending on what you want, you can buy new or used.

Get the part number and order through you nearest BMW car dealer

ha, I knew that - stood like a prune in the middle of these fuck ugly cars - wandered around and had to ask for parts counter - "oh, you're just scum, its over there" waited 20 mins to get served - gave the part number - they pretended it wasn't an acceptable number - I explained they can order me bike parts - he said they can't...

went home to check the part number - the GS Oil filter - is the very same part used on the petrol range extender i3 - with the very same part number I had given him...

went back round for an argument - ready to rip the big bosses head off - and got another parts guy - oh yes we have 11 in stock !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ii ordered parts online last week,

filled in the form, emailed it accross, 20 mins later a payment request arrived

Paid and replied,

Parts were on my desk next day

cant complain with that

I just go to a bricks and mortar main dealer
Never fails - they tell me if part is in uk warehouse or Germany and delivery is super quick 2-4 days

Thanks for the thoughts/comments.

I never used to have any issues ordering online. Ridiculously, the only dealer 'near' me is in central London, which is bit of a trek. Unless maybe I go to the workshop, which is closer ish.

Yes, Motorworks is already on my list. But for seals, I want OEM, not pattern parts.

Agree with @Slipperyeel - that looks more like a third party than an official BMW site and the SMS payment screams dodgy to me. In fact do BMW even have an official on-line parts store? If you go on the main UK motorrad site there's no link to parts ordering at all?

Re-reading the comments. Not sure if I make it clear. I am trying to buy direct from BMW (online). Not a parts outfit.

As per theoneandonly above, something weird is going on with BMW online - I mean for parts.

I'm going to call Motorworks and see if they can provide OEM seals...

Aagh sorry - should have said agree with @theoneandonly

I think MrC99 is getting warmer. They have sold the transaction portion of the online sales...

Would you mind sharing the website address ? If it's genuine then I'd find it useful.
Good idea. See below.
Keep in mind my comment about calling BMW Park Lane - the guy instructed me to email them... So it's not just this site offering weirdness.

I have used this same site in the past years. Only in the last 4-5 months had it all gone weird.

BM parklane used to have an ebay shop - that worked back in the day
