Had to plug my rear tyre twice now and although it doesn't leak any air I'd like to remove the tyre and patch it from the inside. The tyre has 1000's of miles left so I don't want to replace it as yet. Is there a recommended patch I can use on the inside?
Thanks

Use a shot of Ultraseal or similar. That will seal any future leaks and you wont have to f@nny around taking the tyre off !! I use it in rears, but not fronts as I have heard reports of the liquid making any slight out-of-balance issues more pronounced !!

If it has been plugged twice I would have the tyre off to double check there is no internal damage, if it is okay then I would have it professionally repaired using mushrooms .

Agreed - be aware that two is the maximum number of mushrooms allowed in a single tyre though...

I have heard this tale before.
I am not certain it if it is true or not. If it is true, it is a most illogical rule, since the probability of catastrophic failure could not be linked to several unrelated punctures.
Myke

Id get a professional opinion no matter how much tread on tyre,I had one with 5mm left written off the way the hole was :blast

Rat tail repairs aren't the same as proper mushroom repairs, if the British Standard says one repair per tyre you will probably find that any tyre dealers or bike shops will decline putting in multiple mushrooms as it may leave them open to litigation if there is a problem further down the line ie tyre failure and an accident

It's not leaking so the plugs have worked. I'd leave well alone and ride until you need to change.

I wouldn't bother putting any of that Ultraseal gunk in either as it's horrible to remove.

In my experience a "professional" will always advise the most profitable outcome for themselves so it's going to be replace. Jjh

The guy who wrote my tyre off didn't charge to remove it,they are bikers & only charged £10 to fit a replacement which I'd sourced elsewhere too,I'd never go to quick fit or watling tyres type garages more likely to have crap attitude,I use independent people who are trustworthy & reasonable price wise.
