Yes, thats always been like that (As long as I have been going that way anyway)

The RN10 is always a good alternative, but weekends were better and the food stops were even better, iirc.

Saying that, I was usually in a Van, so it could be much much better on a bike

Just came back from France [walking and MTB].
I was in 'Morvan' [nat. park Bougondy] and Elzas, whitout moto - a pitty, France is a beautiful country to ride motorbike.
