Hi guys,

Just had my final quote in for my 2015 GSA and they are now charging for Racing Blue Matt finish paint?

Anyone else had this?

It has never been mentioned to me until now, feeling a bit frustrated. I've emailed the dealer and I'm waiting for a reply.

Cheers

Profit engineering, my dear chap

You want the colour, so they'll stiff you for a bit more brass

It's the new way of the corporate machine

Suck it up & enjoy the ride :augie

It is the fastest colour though, so I can see why they would want to have your trousers down for it :D :augie

That's one of the changes for 2015, Arctic White is standard, I was quoted another £85 for green or blue.

Regards,

So the bike now comes in white with every other colour an option? (or just the blue?)
I am absolutely staggered that BMW don't offer every colour in the BMW range as a colour option, it's not like they're a K1600GT with half a mile of tupperware now is it. My understanding is (albeit from my distant memory of buying a new GS in 2007) that you order a bike and they build it for you with the options you've specified .... why on earth can't colour be one of them?
I'm not complaining of course as it allows me the opportunity to do some nice paint jobs on said bikes ........

Tell us about it Chris - current colour range I think is very very poor! hence my recent pm. Apparently the BMW marketing people do speak to "lots" of people before deciding what colour are available.

Yes you are correct - order bike before it goes down the line and they build to the colour order - from the vast options of karkie green, matt metallic blue (you must have a blue seat - how dare you ask for a normal seat sir) or White.

Why you can't have more options or pick a diff seat cover i.e. have it in blue with a black and grey seat beggars belief, but hey welcome to the vast world of choice BMW provide for their product.

Mind you ..... it's not like they're a premium product now is it ........ They're only about £17k after all .......:eek

Wired thing is I wanted white but it was unavailable, blue was free for me in March 2014 .its just under £400 to change all the plastics so maybe just pay the £85 and get it

Not with the 3 dealers I have asked - its rumoured you can but yet to find a dealer who can find this "hidden" option on the build sheet!

I have read of more than 1 person who did just this on this forum, my dealer offered me the black & grey seats when I bought my blue GSA but I stuck with the blue seats and glad I did, it may not be listed on their option sheet but if the dealer wants your business they should make this happen for you.

I've heard air in the tires is extra too:green gri

Now you're just being silly.........

It's the air in the tyre that is the extra, now if you want nitrogen......... (Sharp intake of breath)...... I'll have to ask the manager, as that's not normally something we do so that will be extortionately expensive......

:blast

If you order a car with solid paint, it's included. If you order a car with metallic paint, it's an extra. BMW has just realised that they can charge for this on their motorcycles, and people will pay for it.

Other bike manufacturers will follow suite, and charge for metallic paint, you'll see.:rob

Saying that, my dealer tried to charge me for the metallic finish on mine, and I refused to pay the difference, as it was included when I ordered the bike.:D
