Paying Toward Warranty Work - Extends Your Warranty?

I can't seem to find the specific thread, but I read somewhere that if you pay a bit toward warranty work you get 2 years warranty from the date of the work. Is that correct? I'm about to have a load of work done to my GSA which will include engine rebuild, frame etc. My 2 year warranty will be up at the end of November this year and wondered if i pay a bit towards it like a nominal £50 will that reset the warranty on those parts?

Or just don't bother and get the extender warranty in November?

The part carries a 2 year warranty. Contributing to the cost covers you under the consumer act.

Personally I'd confirm that all work will be covered by the extended warranty (in writing) and then take that out rather than have the hassle of wrangling with a dealer and the mothership over the consumer rights act.

You're getting confused between Warranty and Goodwill

If your bike is repaired and parts are replaced under warranty then you will not have an opportunity to make a contribution

If parts are replaced under goodwill then it is usual for the manufacturer/dealer to ask for a contribution from the customer. It is this contribution that means the warranty on the part replaced remains with you
