PC hangs when posting to UKGS'er...

Tonight everytime I try and send a PM to MAtron the PC locks up. I can here the hard disk getting faster and faster and the CPU usage is at 100%.... It has also happened replying to a normal post so you can't blame Matron...

Anyone else had this problem..??

On at least six occasions when I've typed a response to a thread and pressed the 'submit' button, the PC just freezes.

Once, it seemed to clear on its own after about 3 minutes.

On the other occasions I've had to ctrl-alt-del and close the browser.

Incidentally, this has happened both when using Firefox and also the Avant browsers (Avant is a fancy front end for IE).

It's only happened with the new UKGSer site, and there have been no changes or upgrades with either browser.

Such, it seems, is the price of progress.

just sent a test one to Pauls IT man in London...no hangs

i didn't ask for a read reciept if that maks a difference :)

and one to someone else too... no problems
 
mine used to do it using opera v.6 & 7 on the old site. since going to v.8 it's never happened again.
 
Since the upgrade on the 3rd of this month, I've had 1 PM hang. It was a lengthy reply and took a while to write.

Of those that have had PM’s hang, would you say they were large ones or simple two liners?

There is no reason why the system should hang when sending PM’s but it is obviously a problem so, I’ll look into it.

Usually a lengthy one Paul, that includes the 'quoted' previous pm too...

Okay, I've just noticed that this scenario happens when trying to post a reply to a PM containing a) a quote; and b) a lot of lines (say 20 - 30).

Leave it with me and I'l get it sorted.

This should now be fixed as of 10:42 today.

It's been on lengthy responses AND PMs.
 
No probs here at all.....on lengthy ones or ikkle ones.

Not meant to be a hijack but it's fekking great that when you put a smilie in a PM reply, or a quote, it doesn't spring it to the bottom of the reply so you then have to go and cut and paste the bastard all over again :thumb
