My Asus EeePC netbook has gone wrong... it says it can't format the 16Gb SSHD as it's damaged... As a Mac user it's beyond me.... whether it's an OS problem, or as it says a dead SSHD... Anyone know a good repair/diagnostics place in Notts, or is there a Tosser that could check it out for me..? I need it for Mapsource   :thumb

Stick the biggest sd card you can get in the ( sd card slot ):augie
Boot to the bios and exclude the C: drive and make your Card the boot drive
bung in the OS via a usb dvd drive...simples...
Or google eeepc help for loads of mods and stuff.
i have a 16gig usb pen drive stripped down and soldered into mine:D
+ another 8gig sd card as drive D:
You could also boot from a pen drive as All the drives are classed as USB.

Thanks for those ideas... :thumb2

I was thinking along similar lines with maybe a 32Gb SD card in the slot, whether or not I could get anything to replace the dead drive...

I certainly can't afford a new netbook, so something has to work :augie

If you take off the base the main drive is on pins and will pull out, PROBLEM
thou is that some EEEE's had the main ssd soldered in even the plug in ssd's are mucho £'s so best look throu the site for a fix. OR, you could pop in a Big SD card and reinstal to that after doing the bios thing and stopping the main drive,
just rename it to K: or sumut well past what will be used, instal your new drive and name it C: put OS back on it. Another option is to download windowlite
onto a pen drive and boot fron it, you have to remember to insert the drive before you switch on thou. Always turn the EEE OFF never leave it in standby as the usb ports will remain powered..
