Am trying to receive routes created on basecamp using a friends pc into my nav v using an sd card. Im using a mac.
When I save data to the sd card, his garmin wont read it & vice versa, when he saves data to my sd card in his garmin, my garmin wont read it!
Am I missing something basic here?

Are the files .gpx?

If not, what file extension do they end with? For instance, do they end .gbd?

What GPS device is your friend using?

Yes, they were .gpx
Looks like it was something to do with the format of the card!
I re-formatted it (fat32) in a pc & it now seems to be able to read/write.

Strange cos it was the card from my nav 4, was loaded with .mp3s & I had been using it to listen to music on the V.
It had been also used in a Samsung tablet so whether thats corrupted it I dont know.

I was also shocked to find Garmin have changed USB plugs (mini to micro?) from the iv to the V.

Indeed, it's quite shocking that Garmin should do this. Outrageous.
Its all very well complaining, but not doing anything.

Learn from the French who are currently out on strike about this very issue.

I have thrown away my Nav V in protest. Forward brothers and sisters! Forward in our crusade to reinstate the mini USB!

mounting any card/drive on a mac will leave hidden files on it thereafter. these can interfere with the operation of some garmin GPS units.

I hope that you are currently burning tyres outside your house or in Wapping High Street
