pc working but now not

old man was using pc (shuttle) no problem this moring and ive been using for months with no problem

he turned it off at lunchtime and came back to it coupla hours later to use it and nothing

no noises no lights nothing

he checked the fuse in the plug and fine the soclet is ok (the vbox andvideo are still on)

tried a lead from a known workng pc and nothing

whas gone poof inside and do pcs have internal fuses (where do i start )

Also check if the power supply unit ( PSU) has a diddy switch that has been knocked to the off or 110volt position, the ps will have a fuse inside it.
It'll be a qwik blow not the one we like a slow blow....
if you remove the cover ( PC ) not PSU some motherboards have a diddy LED
om them check to see if that is on, if not try another psu from a mate.

the 240v is next to an on off switch next to the mains socket its changable from outside and is sat on 240 no leds showing the power socket is in a shrouded box cant get that off to look for fuses till i find me diddy screwdrivers fanks

Do you have a multimeter? if so when you remove the side/top whatever,
pull the plug from the motherboard, it has a catch at the front you press in and pull up. Stick your probes across the red and black pins, should be 12volts give or take a nats. The yellow wires should be 5volts... the prug will only go back one way have a look before you put it back in. PSU is from £35 to ££££££'s
if it is the psu you can buy then at most PC shops but check you get the correct one as newer PC's have extra wires from the psu.

Are Shuttle a bit different? Every PC I've worked on has red and black at 5 volts and yellow and black at 12 volts.

Also, most switched mode power supplies need a load before they 'work'. I hate working on switched mode PSU's......

whatever youse said thats wayyyy beyond my comprehenshun

dug an old pc outta the loft and changed a dvd drive and using that for time being the shuttle is in bits in the loft (big hammer on the menu)

Hoovers can create a static charge. Even with the computer off, it holds small charges & if touched by static electricity it will most certainly be deaded.

Outside with slight breeze & a clean small paint brush. Best way to avoid trouble & all that nasty dirt (facing upwind from cleaning process).

Squirt of WD40 all over M/B is a good plan. Never on HDD's, they have a breather hole.

went and bought a cheap compaq from morrisons

must find out the place that recycles pcs for charidee
