PCP - Who's handing theirs back?

As the PCP was 0% paying it off early doesn't make sense.

It's still a debt. I've let it run because that's what the deal was. But I've got enough out of it to suit me.

.... and now I own all my vehicles again, without debt. Makes me happy inside :)

Plus I can now start looking for something else to add to the headcount....

Yep that right there. I never felt comfortable at all while I had one of these stoopid deals, I now own two very new bikes outright with no debt and also makes me happy inside.

I'm very happy my bikes are mine, and always have been.

You can stick yer PCP bollocks.

What I don't like is all the Contract Wording.... stuff like...

You will not.... you must not.... you cannot..... We will do this...., you will do that....

Fuck Off..... it's my bike. Quicker you can get rid of the 'suits' the better.

ive never had pcp before but when you can have a lovely £12,300 dct Africa Twin for a cheaper cost of a cup of coffee (£2.27 a day ) and no deposit it was as they say a no brainer. I eventually sold my Africa Twin that I brought for with actual money , but did enjoy having two around the place for a while:green gri

edit . I haven't read the wording so im just using it as I normally would . whatever happens it will always be an excellent deal even more so now that the prices have gone up a fair bit.

I ignored all the small print...ride it, hand it back minus a few quid for excess miles...or pay it off. Win win at the deal we got.

Interesting, Honda finance said that if a dealer did not take it in part exchange and I wanted to return it, I would have to deliver it to one of their authorised depots or pay £90 for collection. They also sent me a document with the same information.

At the risk of being anal about it, the excess mileage charge is 4.9 pence per mile plus VAT, so £58.80 per 1000 miles which still seems reasonable. When buying it, I got a PCP quote at a higher annual mileage and compared the overall cost to standard quote of 4000 per year plus excess mileage charge, they were almost identical. So really, you may as well just use the bike and not worry.

That's good to know.. Wonder how I can find out where their depots are...

I've not had any contact from Dobles offering me any deals on part x for the new model..

I'm sure I read somewhere they'd charge you £30 plus cost of parts, for every seperate item, to return the bike back to standard spec. So make sure there are no modifications on the bike.

Yeah, me too, as I knew I'd buy it anyways

I threw it down the road with only 150 miles on the clock anyway... so it was always going to have a hard life.

jojitsu - Honda finance will tell you where the depots are, if not I have a list, send me a PM with your location and I will let you know which ones are near you.

Warlord, thanks mate, did not know about the charge to return to standard, but then again I am too stubborn to give them stuff, would rather give it to a fellow tosser if it cannot be transferred to the next bike.

No problem, just have a good read of your contract so you know for sure.

There will be clauses for them to make money on your returned bike... just don't fall into any easily avoidable traps :D

I almost pxd a few times over the last couple of months but all the dealers were offering £600 less than the settlement so I might as well keep it then hand it back. At £70 per month it's the cheapest new bike I've had.

That's me fooked, I drilled the fairing to add the winglets tbh I would hand mine back as I fell out of love with the Dct and prefer a Manual, but I would prefer to sell mine for what I owe £6500 once I've paid it off, many of the extras(not all) like the k-tech fork kit and other extras I cannot be arsed to remove, my dct only has 4K on the clock, I never used the bike for the first year due to being unwell and the original wheels have never seen the tarmac, still wrapped up following the fitting of RR wheels

Realistically do these bikes sell privately ? I've seen the same bikes listed month after month.

As with all used bikes a buyer wants a bargain and a seller wants a fair price so its down to bargaining the difference but given the glut which may appear on the market shortly, as did when I sold mine then the price your selling for is going to take a hit. Extras may tip the sale over another bike but they wont bring the price up to recover any costs.

Jolly good chap, pm sent. 👍

At the moment, I'd say they're struggling, weather and the new 1100 hitting used values. I'd perhaps be tempted to bang it up for sale in late April/May, very low mileage, mint etc. If it sells you'd obviously pay off the finance, if not hand it back and see what they say about the winglets. I imagine that mid Sept onwards will be a very poor time to sell one, great time to buy a low mileage 3 yr old one tho
