Ive just ben given a Dell Axim PDA with Tom Tom software and gps receiver.
I dont intend using it much on the bike as i prefer a proper map and a bit of proper navigation:beer:
Just wondered what the best method (and cheapish) was to mounting it? and if anyone has any other experience using one of these on the road.
 Dazco

Hi have tried many methods for mounting my PDA and without doubt the best is Ram mounts and they do a waterproof box with PVC front so you can still use the touch screen

They dont leak, come loose and they fit great

Aqua Box

Dazco - I have an Aqua Box up for grabs if you are interested

thanks for that lot.
Gee- Ess. ive already been offered an Otterbox(not got a pet otter so better go and look for one) and it should be winging its way to me as i type.
Thanks for the offer, if the otters no good ill be in touch.
Where do you go about mounting the receiver thingy?

aahhh you see how are you going to mount the box

Ram does all the bits, box and mounting kit that all work lovely

The reciever I presume you mean the gps I leave it in my pocket or tank bag (bluetooth)

For the last 2 years before I bought I GS I used a PDA with TomTom on my sportsbikes. I have a Kriega R35 rucksack and I used to put the GPS receiver in the top mesh pocket and the PDA in the main bag. The GPS receiver was bluetoothed to the PDA and I had a pigtail lead audio lead from the PDA to the bassmonster speakers which I had installed into the lining of my helmet. For journeys under 4 hours this was all I needed as there was sufficient battery capacity in the PDA (with the backlight switched off) and the GPS reciever. The beauty of this set up was that it was all self contained and I could get on and off the bike for fuel without having to connect or disconnect anything. For longer trips I had to plug the GPS receiver and PDA into the 12v car charger. To do this I rigged up a cigarette lighter socket on the bike just under the pillion seat and had the car charger lead dangling out of the rucksac so that I could plug it in.

This was all a bit of a lash up but very very effective. I had no problems just working on the voice instructions from the PDA and didn't miss not being able to see the 3d view.:aidan

that sounds more like it terzikat:thumb , i just love lash ups lol right all ill have to do is sort out how to connect a bluetooth thingy to it:beerjug:
