Hi,

What wire are people using for the PDM60 ignition trigger? I used the tail light on the F800, presume I can use the same on the R1200GS and that it is also located under the seat?

Also can someone please explain the "Always live" function - does this mean if i installed say a cigarette power socket and selected that option that it will constantly draw power even with the bike shut off? Just asking because the manual states that this option only draws 0.5 amps which wouldn't be sufficient to power pretty much anything.

I used tail light wire for ignition trigger on 2015 GSA. plenty room for pdm60 there too but u do need to extend the power and ground wires.

There is a fuse block under the seat and the red (with blue stripe) lead that goes into the 7.5amp fuse is ignition controlled. See attached pic.

'Always on' means exactly that. Downside is that the LEDs on the PDM 60 are also always on, so over an extended period when not being used this will act as a drain on the battery. I've added a fuse block into the main power supply to the PDM so when not using the bike I take the fuse out (see fuse taped to ECU in pic).

I needed the 'Always On' function to provide power to helmet bluetooth batteries when a mains supply wasn't available. It's also switched as well.

Unit situated under rear tray at the back, only place with enough space - that's the drawback of this installation as I'll need to remove pannier frames and tray to get at the unit if reprogramming ever required. I have the seat on the low-low setting and there wasn't sufficient clearance under the seat.

Main reason for the PDM60 installation was the power feed for heated jacket and gloves which would have been spat out by the Canbus.

Is the tail light gray/red same as the F800?

Here's a couple of pics of my PDM60 install. Only got heated jacket and air horn connected to it at the moment. The coiled yellow wires are just extra wires that I fed through while I had the panels off. Maybe to put power to a tankbag or something

I wouldn't use foam around it like that. The programming plug is exposed and you will saturate it with the foam. Just use industrial Velcro and hold it down.

Jim

PS I use the red wire on the factory fuse block for a trigger.
