Please can someone with a GSA with standard pegs and levers let me know the distance from the floor (with the bike on the centre stand) to the top of the foot pegs, and from the floor to the top of the gear lever & rear brake pedal?

Please only give me the gear lever measurements if you haven't adjusted the factory settings.

The Gilles pegs & levers are factory set at a strange angle, which are affecting gear changes, so I need to replicate the settings with the standard pegs/ levers and go from there.:blast

Surely there is a screw & rod adjuster or some such.............for you to experiment with..is there not?

Nutty, this is the info from BMW. As you have changed both pegs and gear lever it would be worth following the set up guide. You could achieve this by adjusting the Gilles or the gear linkage.

There is, and I have, but I've tried a few adjustments, and it's still not perfect. Speaking to a couple of other people on here with the Gilles set up, they are both saying the gear changes aren't as slick.:blast

So my next step is to replicate the factory settings.

Thanks, that's helpful to have.:thumb

BMW have spent millions getting the optimum peg/gearchange/brake pedal distances and you go and muck up all that hard work:blast................with some cheap bling:D

It is rather frustrating!

Right, so some notes for anyone thinking of getting the BMW HP pegs (Gilles) and Gilles gear/ brake levers.

You can't use them in the lowest position, if you want smooth gear changes, as the gear lever will foul the side stand if you set BMW's recommended angles.:blast

The medium position of the pegs is around 7mm lower than the standard height pegs. The HP pegs in the highest position are the same as stock GSA pegs.

So, the measurements from BMW, and a couple of owners of 2017 models:

Floor to top of pegs = 400mm
Floor to top of gear lever = 370mm
Floor to top of rear brake lever = 380mm

I've set mine up as follows:

Floor to top of pegs = 393mm (with the rubbers compressed; 395mm with no weight on the rubbers)
Floor to top of gear lever = 372mm (which is the lowest it will go without fouling the side stand)
Floor to top of rear brake lever = 360mm (I'll adjust this to 380mm in a minute, once i work out how!:D)

Will see how that goes. I can always adjust them to the highest position, as this will replicate the stock pegs, once the rubber is compressed, but that defeats the whole point of having height adjustable foot pegs.:blast:D

What a complete faff; that's the last time I take farkle advice off anyone on here!:rob:P

I can totally see the farkle appeal on those as they look so much better than the painted OE alloy ones, but as JohnyB said... There are 55 staff in Berlin who spend 24/5 on R&D in motorrad alone. We all know the shortcuts they take on exact costing and lifing of components hence the reliability/quality issues of the machines, but on ergonomics and dynamics of both man and machine, BMW is ace.

I wouldn't touch ergonomics on anything. If its too uncomfortable, its not the bike for me.

The K16 had for example perhaps 1 inch too high pegs for my liking and a slightly cramped leg position (a bit too bent and sightly open:rolleyes::rolleyes: for what its worth..) that was ok for 3-4 hrs but not much more for tall people.

Getting my TB on Friday. Looking fwd to it, thenonly farkle being mudslings front and back...

I sort of agree. If they aren't any good after I test them properly at the weekend, they'll be taken off and sent back for a refund. I'm surprised that a company like Gilles, who specialise in this area, have dropped such a bollock in the design of these.

I guess they are intended to be used with standard pegs then. No problems with mine. I did raise the height a fraction so that it doesn't catch the stand when you press down into first, but we are talking a couple of mm's. There was no need to make any other changes and gear changes are all spot on. I should have waited, I could have bought them of you for £20 :D

I disagree about bmw having the ergonomics sorted. Why is there such a booming trade in screens, bar risers, different seats and heights etc? Its surely designed so as to fit Joe average.

the gilles/hp stuff is beautifully made and designed almost like bikers jewelry, the levers and pegs run on sealed bearings and if fitted correctly will out perform the standard rough cast chinky crap

Agreed. They are beautifully made, and exude quality. I'm sure that my setup is as close to stock to solve the gear change issue. I've adjusted the rear brake lever, so it's about 2mm lower than stock, but with the pegs in the middle position, I doubt I'll be able to notice the difference.

Will report back once I've had a chance to test it properly on Saturday.

When I fitted mine I found I needed to tweak a little after the first ride and that was a year ago, since then no issues except that gear changes are so much smoother:thumb
@ Nutty, my pegs are in the middle position and they feel purrfect:D

Nutty old boy, we rode 340 miles yesterday to the Ardennes and wozza said his were perfect and snicked seemlessly all day
