Allihies again.. but off to Asia soon....
Years ago in the UK I used to get 25p a mile for the first x miles and then about 12p a mile.

Been looking for the same thing for the Irish tax system. Anyone know the values. Have had to ride from Ireland to Belgium for a job and am doing over a hundred miles a day whilst here to and from the job. Rather than claim petrol bla bla bla I would rather claim the mileage.

Is this the way it's done in Ireland???

Cheers

Revenue have a scale of what you can claim for. It's designed for public servents but is used in the private sector as a yard stick. It's based on the size of the car & the milage done, so (as a kinda rough example) if you have a 1600cc petrol car & you do less that 10000km you can clain X but if you have a 1500cc diesel & you do 25000km you can only claim Y per km. I've no idea what the rates are currently but I'll see if I can find out.

Cheers, will check it out at the weekend. The way I see it is I have had to come here as there was no work at home. I do not intend for the trip over to have cost me a penny. At least not in my tax return
Done about 2500miles in the last two and a half weeks...

Yeah, multi fuel. Diesel for jeep, petrol for bike, coffee, cakes, tea, cakes, more tea and a few more cakes for the driver, in Jocksers case. :D
