Got to get my airhead MOT'd soon, and asked if they thought my front 21" Tourance would get through -it's looking a bit close to the 2mm mark !
So, the front tyre is the old style Tourance, and almost exactly 1 year old, and covered about 12000 miles . Whilst the tread is marginal,( and I'll be replacing before the summer trip anyhow), Rick the mechanic said that it was looking quite perished and showing signs of slight splits between the tread blocks.
So, my question is, is this normal for a tyre only around 12 months old , and not excessive mileage ? I don't recollect this on previous Tourances on my 1150. Rick reckoned that the quality of the rubber has gone down in recent years ?
PS no off road malarkey, apart from odd bits of road repair gravel in Finland etc., and bike is kept under cover in a lock up, so not left out in the open.

at 6000 miles in 6 months. Front tyre has lots of cracking. Looked at another GS with Conti Attacks on and it had the same cracking but not as bad. Never had this issue before. Bloke at Universal tyres said this happens on some tyres but mostly on Metzlers. Fitting Michelin Anakee 2's at the weekend.
