Perpignan (Fr) to Lagos (Portugal)

Advice from my brother who has done a few miles there:

Talavera de La Reims, Gredos, Segovia or Salamanca, Burgo and Reinosa, Pamplona and Pyrennes. Not the most direct but enjoyable.
Or any green road on the Michelin map.
The French bit I've done but just following the yellow D roads up through the country, found some great roads, small towns and villages but not recorded exact routes.

I must admit to a double take wheni scanned the thread title and saw Lagos. Fortunately I read the detail before starting to type ideas.

N502 up to Avila as I mentioned above in reverse.

Then head north of Madrid towards Logrono via the Sierra de la Demanda. Hop over the Pyrenees at somewhere suitable for the weather, near coast or better, Puerto de Larrau to Pau then pick if W's route.

Heading off 25 September 2 up on the Goldwing to visit rellies in S Portugal.

Am starting to research attractive routes from Perpignan to Lagos spending 4-5 days en route (am ok for the trip to Perpignan, which is viathe ferry to Caen and then Bourges (visiting friends en route).

I have crossed Spain and Portugal a good few times on a moto but as I break out the trusty Michelin and start my research, welcome any pointers from the inmates of UKGSer for good roads between E Pyrenees and S Portugal. (Of course I shall be diving into the wealth of info on this site too).

Lots of great roads try the N2
But only if you like lots and lots of fast bends !!!

Thanks for the recommendations. I had a fantastic 8-9 hour ride today from Cordoba in Andalusia to Soria in La Rioja following these fabulous local roads. It was a cold day with a little rain and some hail but very enjoyable anyway as the roads were almost empty, with fabulous curves and scenery.

Even colder tomorrow perhaps the forecast

Staying at a nice roadside hotel (mainly truckers) and had a hot bath to recover from a chilly day

Thanks Martin it’s an amazing bike. You sort of expect a Goldwing to soak up big distances but it also handled small and winding Portuguese roads with great ease…two up. And all this with mid 50’s mpg and better tyre wear than my old RT. It’s a keeper

I saw it up at Portsoy, didn't realise it was yours . I tried one for size a couple of years ago, it wasn't too bad, i'd definitely try one for a test ride at some time
