I went to have a set of Metzeler Unicross tyres fitted at Watling Tyres but when I got there they refused to fit them. They told me they didn't fit tubed tyres onto tubeless rims as it could kill me and they'd be responsible

I'd planned on going off-road this weekend so I then asked them to remove the tyres for me so I could fit the new ones at home. They had no problem removing the tyres off my rims and they were then perfectly happy for me to go and kill myself by me fitting them myself
Anyway, knowing I wouldn't kill myself using tubed tyres, I got home, fitted the front one fine and then did the back one. It was a right bugger getting the last bit of tyre onto the rim so I got a 4' tyre lever out and with the assistance of a mate I really put my back into it, trying to get that last bit of tyre on. All of sudden there was a loud crack. I had snapped the tyre bead. A brand new tyre too
The nonsense of it is, if I hadn't told them it was a tubeless rim, they wouldn't have known it was tubeless and they'd would've fitted the tyre without a problem. As far as I'm aware there isn't a safety issue when using tubes in a tubeless rim. I asked for an explanation why they wouldn't do it and the only answer they could come up with was " we just don't do it". I've always used Watling Tyres in the past but this will be my last visit to them.
I had some theiving scum try and steal the lead off my garage roof two nights ago and when I picked my bike from its service on Thursday, the garage had put a massive scratch in my exhaust. They say bad luck comes in three's so I hope I'm now done. I'm staying in bed all day today just in case...
P.S:- what happens if I use the tyre with a broken bead? Will it come off or stay on? Anyone have any experience of using a tyre with a broken bead?
