The proposed speed limit reduction on the A87 between Cluanie and Kintail has been dropped.
Transport Scotland announced today (Friday) that they have “reconsidered” changing the speed limit to 50mph on a 12-mile stretch of road between Cluanie Inn and Kintail Lodge Hotel.
The proposed reduction on the A87 between Invergarry and the Glen Garry viewpoint has also been dropped.
A87 - KINTAIL 50MPH LIMIT - 2
The speed limit between Kintail and Cluanie will remain at 60mph
The decision follows a successful campaign by the Free Press and a public petition signed by over 1,000 people, with many local drivers calling on Transport Scotland to repair the numerous potholes on the road rather than reducing the speed limit.
Making the announcement, transport minister Derek Mackay said: “We are always keen to hear what people think about our proposals and we take the time to consider their responses. We balance these concerns with the need to ensure that casualty numbers continue to fall across the country.'
We've been had over by an out of date petition. Very out of date. Thanks.
