Petrol cap rubbers, 1200GS Info req'd.

Whilst changing the Metallic blue bodywork on my 1200 (non adv) for the RED, I had to unbolt the petrol cap and surround.

As I gently lifted the Blue/Red fuel tank cover off, I realised there are 2 or 3 rubber mount type things. They are actually part of the bodwork, rather than the petrol cap.

Just as I was thinking "I MUST notice where these sit", they fell off and bounced around on the shed floor

Now, I think there's 3, but I can only find 2. Or are there only 2 in the first place??

Does anybody know how they fit or....

Would anybody be willing to unbolt their petrol cap and take a photo for me??

The rubbers should stay in place as long as you don't remove the bodywork.

Tank rubbers

Hi there are three rubbers,i had my tank cover off the other day,same happened to me,they have a little slot in one side which locates on the tank cover.They will only fit properly one way,pretty easy to fit if you study them,if you can only find two,i hate to tell you this but they are small enough to fall into the tank

Defintely 3 rubber bits Miff on my 2005. I know cos I took off the tank cover last weekend when wiring a sat nav. Two of mine feel off and were a bit of a fiddle to get back on but if you look at how the rubber is moulded it should become clearer which way they go. If you want photos, I seem to remember seeing somewhere a step by step instruction to removing the tank which showed the rubber bits in place. I guess it might have been through this forum somewhere but can;t remember.

I thought there should be 3. On the positive side, when one disappeared, I definitely heard it hit the floor. But you know what it's like (drop, bounce, bounce, GONE).

I've found the 3rd rubber. It's IN THE BLOODY TANK. AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!

At least there's not much fuel in there, so it's just sitting on the base of the tank, and not sunk to the bottom.

Managed to fish the rubber OUT of the tank today, and it's all fitted back together. Just needs some final tweeking and it'll be done.
