Petrol Stations - How does they work on the app

I used the MRA app yesterday for the first time and generally speaking, it was OK. It did try to take me down a non-existent road/lane but I was able to get round that obstacle. At some point on the ride, I needed petrol and I saw the Petrol Station icon on the app - how the heck do you use that information ? I was hoping you could just click on it and it take you to the nearest petrol station but no dice. When it says Petrol Station 2 miles ahead, say, does it mean ON the route I'm following or ? It didn't seem to be on the route as I taking and so seemed of very limited value.

If you prod the Icon it gives the option of adding the station as a stop on the route. If you hit yes it adds it to the route. You may have to be stationary to do this for safety?? I was sitting on my sofa.....so no great risk.

Thanks, that at least confirms that any petrol station indicated in that tile may not actually be ON the route I'm following but is close by at least.

Thanks, I think you nailed it - you probably have to be stationary when you tap on that tile. I don't recall 100% but I think I was moving when I tried it. I will try it while stationary the next time I use the app on the road. I was getting a little frustrated because NOT having the app give you the option to go to the petrol station just didn't make any sense.
