After much deliberation on what quality tent to purchase,i took the recomendation from fellow gs'rs that the phad 3 tent is the best one for the job.they was right, this will last forever and it's green!!!.Going to test it for the 1st time at banham.:beerjug::
If anyone is after a new tent there's a few left on ebay from 'campingworld' for £125...a bargain...:thumb

I've got one and I'll be at Banham -jolly good tents -very very green, and loads of space, big porch area and pack up fairly small considering.
Best tent for the money I think . :thumb

Hi, Bought mine at last.

Wen't to Gooutdoors Blackburn Lancs, just down the road from me.

Told them it was on sale at Outdooraction for £119.95.
They checked the internet and agreed, their policy is to beat any price by 10 % so I got it for £107.95 :D:D:D:D

Best regards Stretch :)

I'm trying to research tents, not actually buying one as yet as I haven't bought the bike, wife not sure about camping (taking her on a canvas holiday early off season next year to try it out) and I know nothing about tents.. Sowhat makes this one good and is it easy to erect?

Ya just stick 3 poles in and its up :D Good in windy conditions, 4000 hyd. head so good in rain, fairly light weight, packs up easy and will fit in panier and its cheap for what you are getting :aidan

We can talk about it when ya come back off your canvas holiday next year and you've done some more research :thumb

Best regards Stretch :)
PS also do a search on here:- Phad 3

PHAD X3

I am trying to decide which tent to buy. I have a choice of three.

Phad X3
Vaude Taurus II
Vaude Hogan XT

Any ideas which is best.

I know the Coleman is very popular with tossers.
:)

I've been looking recently to upgrade from my coleman epsilon 2, nowt wrong with it i've jutst realised it's too bloody small. It's been a great tent for £80, never let water in and has withstood weather i thought it wouldn't.

For that reason i'm also getting a phad x3, looked at the x2 but for a little more cash the x3 is loadas bigger :thumb2

Mate had a vaude tent that broke big style on the isle of skye, i won't buy one of those in a hurry.

I have the same issues. switched to a Khyam Biker which has a 6'6" internal length. Same problem and floppier inner too.

I think this is an issue with most smallish tents. Considering Tipi :blast

Cheers

Thanks for the input. I am not too tall at 5'08", but have suffered with kit touching the sides on tents in the past. I hadn't thought of the Tepee option.

The reason I mentioned the three tents is Blacks have the PHAD X3 for £100, the Vaude Taurus II for £100 and I recently got a present from the wife of the Hogan XT.

Looking around the site the only mention of Vaude that sticks out is the tent failing on first use.

Do Tepee's pack down small? They look huge, also how heavy are they and what do they cost?

Anyone with any experience?

I had a cheapo Gelert Tornado 3 & replaced it for a Coleman Phad 2.

I'll list my thoughts comparing the 2.

Tornado
heavier
bulkier
longer to erect due to having to set-up the outer 1st & then attaching the inner.
Used 14 times & starting to look worn.
CHEAP, used it 14 times so works out at £2.50 a shot so far.
I now have the option of leaving it at a site & not loosing out too much.
Though it was cheap (£35) it's stood up well to high winds & driving rain.
Large porch area.

Phad 2
smaller interior (though it is a 2 man)
nowhere to hang my LED lantern! (not 1 loop inside)
Unpack the tent, insert 3 poles & clip them in - you're done!

Hi Shredder, I'm 5'10" and have no problems with my Phad 3, in fact if someone was to nick it, I'd buy the same again.

I paid £107 for mine, a bargain for the spec your getting (if it fits you) :rob
Quality tents for £100, can't go wrong :nenau

Best regards Stretch :)
