This morning because it wasn't actually raining at the time, although it did later I decided to take a ride to Rykers. Joined the M25 at Caterham and decided it was a great day so why get nicked and I duly kept to 70mph and soon found myself behind a black Ford ST. No problem he turned off at Reigate the same as me and we both turned right heading towards Ashtead. All fine so for until seeing the ST keeping to the right when the left hand lane was clear I went up its inside. As we got past the speed camera I was about to gun it when I noticed cars flashing me from the other way and then I spotted the camera van.My initial reaction was to brake, forgetting I have no number plate on the front but its just as as well that I did because looking in my mirror I saw the dreaded, blue flashing lights. I immediately pulled over and knowing I had been an idiot and the officer concerned told me that he thoought I had been caught by the camera van, sic, and he was not of a mind to nick me.
It just proves to me that by fessing up and being polite must pay dividends some times. After all he was only doing his job.

Perhaps a little ironic when I get to Rykers I spend 3 hours in the company of serving police officers out on their GSes. It probably will not be this year but boy do I need to get one of those in the near future.
So finally my message is never assume their are no unmarked police vehicles out there wherever you are.I got lucky this time but it might be different next time.

I live quite near and there was a Blue, unmarked , Focus ST operating round there today as well. Stopped a guy on his Ducati monster, not sure for what though he wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary. The camera van will be there from now until November from previuos experience.

Surrey plod aren't too bad really, but the mickey bends is always crawling with them. It's probably the only place I constantly check my speedo.:augie

Similar thing last year, but I didn't get stopped. ;)

Was riding along the A27 a bit quick :augie near Brighton, when came across a silver Ford Focus ST doing exactly 70mph in the outside lane. No other traffic on the inside for miles, started to get a bit pissed that the driver didn't pull over to let me pass. Then spotted that both the driver and passenger had Airwave radio's stuck on their jackets, rear view mirror for the passenger, covert antenna on the car, etc.

Decided to hang back and wait...........eventually the driver pulled over after about 4 miles.

As I went past I gave them the sign that I'd spotted them. :D

And hopefully you sat in the outside lane for a couple of miles like the plod, and enticed them into an undertake at speed.......now that would be interesting would,nt it........
mind you theirs always another way to look at it' they probably did'nt even know you where behind them just like the rest of the plebs that sit in outside lanes.:thumb

Unmarked Police cars operating daily on the A23, A27, M23, M25, M3, M4, M40 and all A roads surrounding are the following.
VW Golf late model Silver/Grey
Audi A3 Silver/Grey
BMW 330 Coupe silver
BMW 5 series black and another in Silver
Skoda Four Door Saloon in metallic green!
Various Ford Focus ST in usually dark colours and Mondeos

I have no reg numbers because I can`t write them down whilst driving an artic! The reason I know these are Police is because I have seen them nicking drivers in all these areas....And I know most of their hiding places.
You can see a lot from a high seating position:thumb

Naughty Policemen not following the highway code..............could be seen as entrapment :augie

I think the most obtuse thing I saw today was the unmarked black fireblade, the rider was in all black leathers with a silver/grey helmet, this is at a time whilst Kent&Sussex police are pulling riders over if they are not wearing dayglo clothing of some sort....I can`t wait for my moment:mad:
