Short block now painted ........between rain showers. Frame install next, that maybe more interesting to some! Used PJ1 high temperature paint good for 500degrees F

Yes I did, very easy to miss something like that so read the manual section over before every major assembly. Honda also changed things during the production of the SOHC like going from 8 sleeves and rubber seals on the upper barrel to head sealing system to 4.

No Steve I've not seen it, does look quite good. I'm good friends with Robert Thompson, the owner of M.I.S. in Newark. They have a very nice PRR that I have access to along with it's service file. It is very original other than it is wearing the wrong front fender and I'm working on getting them the right one. There are about 60 of these bikes left so quite rare. I do belong to the Whats App group as founded by John White that is dedicated to Phil Read Replicas and Honda Britons, they are a great group and I get most of my help and inspiration from them.
Will continue to post until the bike is completed and then will do a You tube video of the bike running as a final on the build. It's been dead good fun!!

Looking fab so far,great work that man.Didn't realise that the engine of that bike was black.
A friend of mine had one back in those days and we decided that the big silencer looked like a hampton....as in a big willy....so for ever after he was nick named hampton...school boy humour....

Engine is in frame. As I had not removed it I did struggle with it's installation as there is very little extra room. I'm sure that if I do it again it will be a much smoother operation as I've learned so DOES AND DONt's. I lashed a pipe to the engine, passed a bar through it and the bike frame, jacked the bar supporting the engine and slid it into position.

Nearing the end of the build, just have the exhaust can to get ceramic coated and rebuild or replace the front master cylinder and then shake down test rides. Pushed out of the shed for the first time today. Very happy with the way it's running and all appears to be in order, lights, horn. transmission and so on. Will do a Youtube video of it in a couple of weeks and that will be my last post.
I do like projects so if any one likes this and has a project in the back of their shed we can always have a chat. Looking forward to Belgium and the Spa meet this August, planning on riding this there,

Thats a super job. I was reading about you struggling to get that heavy lump of an engine back in the frame. In 1985 my F2 jumped out of fourth going up a hill flat out and it mushroomed three valves (had to file the tops of them to get them down the valve guides 
) I had just started going out with the Current Mrs Mzokk. I was 24 and she 21. She helped me lift the engine out and back into the frame when it was repared. I knew then she was a keeper

Hi , could you tell me the diameter of the large end of the exhaust with the cone on it please ?

So sorry for the late reply, just seen this now. The can diameter that the cone is welded onto is 11.5 cms. (4-1/2"). If you want and your not to far away I can lend you an original can that you can use as a pattern or make a detailed drawing just let me know. Hope this helps.
Hi, thank you for that, I think I can work out the other dimensions now using that measurement. What would be useful is the diameter of the pipe at the three changes in diameter along its length, just to confirm my calculations.thankyou for your incredibly kind offer to loan me your exhaust, which I will bear In mind if I need it, but for now I don’t think I will. To be honest I’ve just started the rebuild and the exhaust will be my final job. I presume you have just the one exhaust ?..if you had another it would be something I would be interested in buying , even if it’s rotten…I have managed to buy an almost new set of chrome down pipes as mine were black…thanks again for your assistance..cheers Phil
