Dear forum :D

I now have my bike comms fully set up:-

- Autocom active plus
- Zumo 550
- Ipod
- Phone (Nokia 6300)
- Autocom b/t dongle

Phone (Nokia 6300) is b/t connected to zumo 550 - All OK :thumb2

Autocom b/t dongle is connected to zumo 550 - All OK :thumb2

I can make phone calls via the zumo, be heard clearly & hear the receiver clearly too, music fades out, then fades up post call; voice instruction for navigation is fine - All OK :thumb2

My ONLY ISSUE, is that my phone contacts don't appear on the zumo menu when I press the phone symbol:confused:

If anyone has experienced & overcome this problem, let us know would ya:clap

Thanks for any help

If it's any consolation, mine doesn't either. :nenau
I can see recently dialed, but not the whole phone book.
Doesn't particularly bother me, I'm not too fussed about phoning people when I'm riding anyhow. :D

Just a guess but could it be something to do with where your phone contacts are stored i.e. on the phone handset or on the sim card??

Worth a try................

This some times happens with bluetooth carkits (like Parrot) and certain phones. Don't know if this will work with the zumo but you can try

Select all your contacts in your phone book (phone) and send them by bluetooth... select Garmin zumo as the bluetooth device....

Not all bluetooth devices can auto sync phone book

let me know if this works

Am now in the house...have switched on my phone & the zumo...zumo is now picking up my contacts from my phone (!!).

However, earlier, when all kit was on the bike & powered up, this didn't happen:confused: Followed the autocom b/t instructions to the letter too:confused:

Still, will try again tomorrow & see if it was just a glitch.

Thx to those who replied :thumb2

I'm with Paul. I could not get the contacts on my 550 and Palm although it worked OK with my old Samsung phone. Garmin suggested sending them with Bluetooth and it worked.

Then I changed to a 660 and even sending them would not work. Changed the phone to a Blackberry and it all works out of the box including voice dialing.

It seems that as a "standard" Bluetooth isn't.

I had similar problems too!

Originally I had a Nokia 6230 and the phone book was transferred to the Garmin 550. I then washed the Nokia in my jeans so I then inherited my daughters old Samsung G600. Unfortunately, the phone book was not transferred automatically but I could send it by bluetooth at the start of a journey but it had to be sent manually by bluetooth, everytime you started a journey, so I didn't bother after a while. When a call came in, I didn't know who it was, but not a major problem.

I then got soaked on the bike and the G600 was in my pocket which was not waterproof!!

I now have a cheaper Samsung SGH-J700, which transfers the phonebook everytime!!

So, the bottom line it would appear that some phones do, some don't!!

Keith

PS - Washing mobile phones is not a good idea, mine goes in a plastic bag and I put it in the waterproof pocket of my jacket!!

my N95 would never let me see the phonebook in the zumo until i bluetoothed a contact to the zumo & then it would let me see my phonebook - me thinks it something to the nokia's phone book settings!!!

Bluetooth has a number of levels of functionality called profiles.

Now some phones support the Phone Book Access Profile, which allows the phone to send phone book info to the Zumo, and some phones don't. My Nokia 6300 does and my wife's Samsung Tocco doesn't :nenau

And for whatever reason, I find that sometimes the Phone Book Access Profile doesn't 'connect' with a devoce, while the Headset Profile always does :nenau

Certainly with earlier versions of the Zumo 550 firmware the bluetooth 'stack' was terribly unreliable. This certainly improved with later versions. Are you guys sure you've upgraded to the latest and greatest versions?

I have similar problem but all I have to do is make a call (I use the answerphone as it is just 123) and then I can access all my contacts and last dialled numbers. Might want to try an outbound call then look again. Also found that bizarrely a dodgy mp3 file caused problems with connecting to my phone (ie 2 tracks on the same album had the same track number).

Am going to mess around with the phone settings, connect everything onto the bike and make an outgoing call & see if the contacts registers.

If this doesn't work, I will continue to explore & see if I can get it working.

May well go onto Nokia & Garmin websites to see if there is any information offered.

Cheers

Register on zumoforum if you haven't already, it's a mine of information.

I've given up trying to get my Zumo to read anything phone related from my Windows Mobile based phone. The only thing that works is the incoming phone number :(

It might be worth trying the voice controlled dialling option if you have one, though.

AHA, GOT IT ALL WORKING :clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap

Right, here's how I did it:-

> Bike switched off
> Zumo 550 into cradle & switch on zumo
> Ensure phone b/t to zumo
>> My phone contacts are in phone as opposed to sim card
> Switch on bike & start up (this boots up the a/com b/t dongle, which is b/t to the zumo)
> 7-10 secs or so, zumo confirms b/t connection & ready to make calls
> Select phone menu on zumo main screen
> Phone menu....top left corner.....PHONE BOOK :D
> Made 2 outgoing calls / received 2 incoming calls - all fine

I then switched the bike off & the zumo; I then moved phone contacts from phone to sim card & repeated the above steps...it worked fine.

Zumo is used as the b/t hub for phone & b/t dongle.

I also have some music loaded onto the zumo, which I also tried to see if it interfered with the phone side & all seemed to work fine, altho I use an ipod for my music rather than the built in mp3 player.

Happy dayz :thumb2

Thx to those for their insight & info - has made me think logically about all this & a successful outcome

Cheers :beerjug:
