and this as well...
I have a Sony Ericsson W810i which I chose because it fit all my criteria for a mobile phone i.e. apart from the usual it had a decent mp3 player and a reasonable camera plus it was smaller than my previous phone (or at least no bigger) and it didn't have any slidy bits (i.e. moveable parts subject to wear and failure).
Features of the Sony Ericsson W810i include:

2 megapixel camera with autofocus, 4x digital zoom & photo light
Video camera & sound recorder
Display: 262k colours, 176 x 220 pixels
Music player
Mega Bass™
FM radio RDS
40-voice polyphonic ringtones / MP3 & AAC ringtones
Polyphonic melody composer (MusicDJ™)
Speakerphone, voice controls, voice mail
Messaging: SMS (with predictive text), EMS, MMS, Instant messaging, email
3D Java games (embedded & downloadable)
Animated wallpaper
Picture editor and effects
Personal organiser functions
Picture phonebook
QuickShare™
Connectivity: Bluetooth, USB, Infra-red, Fast port
WAP 2.0, GPRS, EDGE
Memory: 20 Mbytes plus 512 Mbyte Memory Stick PRO Duo™
Quadband
Vibration alert
Size: 100 x 46 x 19.5 mm
Weight: 99g
Talktime: 8 hours
Battery standby: 350 hours

So, what's as good as or better that still fits my criteria i.e. no bigger, no moving bits, good music player (mine has 4GB on the card) and a good camera?
Mine is still in warranty so I'll take it back but I don't know if they'll fix it or just offer a newer model so I'd like to be prepared.
TIA. :beerjug:

Dull I know, but having had a vast variety of phones over the years I've never had anything better than my iPhone:thumb2

Yup same for me. It's not perfect by any means but it is closer than any other model I have tried - and I've tried most over the years :thumb

I'm very fond of my Blackberries......less flash and fun that an iPhone maybe, but as a comms device, better in several ways.

You can't drink a pint of beer as you tip your head back with a BB like you can with an iPhone, but seriously, how many times can you do that before you get bored and somewhat embarrassed?

A 'Something about Mary' app for an iPhone :blast

All that technology, all those billions of dollars of R&D, just so people can pretend to drink milk on their phone :rob:D

I got a PAYG Samsung Tocca Lite recently to replace my trust Motorola V3 as I wanted something easier to type with, better camera and looked good. Would have loved an iPhone but no way could I afford to buy or run one.

Carphone Warehouse have a special deal online for them at the moment for only £79.99. They come unlocked as that is where I got mine from. Havn't compared all the features you are after but it does have a better screen, is slimmer and has a better camera. I am very pleased with it so far. Mine works fine with a 8Gb Micro SD card

I've just recently got a Nokia 5800 Expressmusic, and I like it. My partner's got an iPhone though, and she's happy with that. iPhone has no flash for the camera, 5800 does, but it's not at its best in low light. 5800 has satnav out of the box, iPhone doesn't, but everyone on ukgser seems to have those already... :D

I know you can play with an iPhone at O2 stores, but you'd have to ask for a demo of anything else, and you might not get the option...

Be aware that if you're on a call, the iPhone doesn't warn you when the battery's about to run out! It can make you seem a bit rude. :D

(And you can get a lightsabre app for both the iPhone and the Nokia 5800)

Bizzarely, mine is working fine again now after a complete discharge and recharge of the battery. How does that work?
I tried a master reset and everything, removed and replaced battery, sim, sd card and all that bollocks and still it was faulty - several buttons had stopped working simultaneously.
I was all ready with my still valid warranty in hand and now it's fine again, aside from losing a couple of games during the reset.

Still, I'm liking the spec of that Samsung. :thumb2 Might be my next one.
Thanks all.

I have an iPhone 3G for music, emails, web, facebook etc but my main phone is a Nokia E 51on Vodafone, a proper mobile phone, no slidey bits to connect you to the internet while its in your pocket, connect well to the Zumo and long battery life unlike most phones at the moment!

cheers,
Terry

Being a very successful businessman, and a very popular chap with more friends than I could possibly count, I use a Nokia E71. I won't bore you with specifications, suffice it to say it makes iPhones look like toys and Blackberrys look like the fat friend the good looking people take out with them, out of sympathy.

If I need a camera I take my camera, its a better camera than a mobile phone.

If I need a Sat Nav I take my satNav , its a better Sat nav than a mobile phone.

If I need to use a a computer I take my laptop , its a better computer than my mobile phone.

If I need a mobile phone then I take my bronze Nokia 6500 Classic, because its a reliable no gimmicks mobile phone . Oh and its a bit slim and sexy....just like me :D

"Now here's a tasty-looking phone. Nokia have finally joined the ultra-thin revolution with the 6500 Classic phone. This is the slimmest Nokia phone released in the UK and, incredibly it's a 3G phone too! And doesn't it look nice, with its sleek aluminium casing ("individually polished", according to the Nokia blurb) and available in Black and Bronze. Let's pause a moment to enjoy the looks."

I absolutely agree.
But how many times have you wished you had had your camera with you when a photo opportunity presented itself?
Sometimes it's just handy for a quick snap. I've used mine to take pictures of wiring connections for example so I can remember how to re-connect them correctly. Hardly worth dragging the DSLR out for, is it?

Nothing is worth using firearms for.

My E71 is getting used for everything. Snaps, music playing, email, word docs, spreadsheets, PDF reading, usual SMS / Phone stuff, almost every office application, web surfing......evryfink. Brilliant!

+1 for the NOKIA E51 :thumb2

I got one last year as a free upgrade with O2. Use it with my UK SIM card.
I can't see past a NOKIA as I like the User friendliness.
The E51 does it for those of us who want a 1-piece phone with no moving parts. Nice and slim too.

However, I must confess my current primary phone is a NOKIA N96. I had to pay O2 for this one. I use it synched to my work PC, but do not use it for web, though I could if I really tried. I'm using a fraction of it's functionality on a daily basis. Managed to finally ditch my trusty Palm Pilot with this one.

I'm wondering when the slider will fail. And heaven help me if I ever drop it on a hard floor.

ps - I was close to buying a 6500 too. A really nice piece of kit.
