I'd like to be able to use my mobile while riding, if i am running late my wife becomes convinced i have been squashed (or drowned this week) on the M1.

Whats the best option? its mainly to answer calls but i would be good to be able to make them as well. Are any of the systems 100% handsfree or do you have to push buttons etc.

Autocom

I use an autocom setup with a phone in the tankbag set to answer automatically. That way if it rings you do not have to touch a button and if you need to you can make calls to as well as listen some delightful sounds. The other option is a bluetooth set up.

Cardo Scala Rider
Bluetooth, so no messy wires.
Battery life is very good.
Quality is excellent
Autoanswer is fone dependant, so if your phone does it, it'll work... If not, it's a touch of one button on the side of the helmet(very easy with minimal destraction)...
Cost about 80quid so not expensive..

Cue the safety brigade lecture...:rob

One answer is a GPS with Bluetooth phone option. For example, the Tomtom Rider will show the number/name calling and you just press the screen to accept or reject the call. When you set up the Rider it will also download your phone's phone book so you can mke a call with a couple of scren presses.

Downside, if you have a problem (and the Rider Mark 1) had plenty, Tomtom's backup is very poor and very slow. The Rider Mark 2 is supposed to be better but as I have been waiting over two weeks since the promised replacement of my Mark 1 with a Mark 2 and Tomtom haven't replied to my emails, I can't give an opinion.

you could just tell her to stop calling because it is going to cause you to crash. or that if you answer and dont say any thing you are ok and when you dont answer to worry (then you dont need HF to tell her you are ok. had this problem withmy missus, so told her that and its all ok and i dont have her nagging me on my way home. phone rings i see from display its her and hang up then she know i am ok (if i wasnt i couldnt answer) Bm
