photos wanted of touratech panniers

Hi all, any of you chaps got piccys of your touratech panniers as fitted to 2004 1150 gsa, mines got a remus on the back, wanted some idea of what it will look llike, was trying to get the panniers where the exhaust almost tucks into the side of it, like it does with the bmw plastic ones.
if you could specify what sizes you have it would be good, many thanks again.

Paul,

Probably the best photo's are on Touratech's website and in their catalogue.

The set you describe is the "Special set" or "Zonder-set" that has a cut-out in the left pannier for the silencer.

Make sure if you go that route that you get the correct tail-pipe extension to fit the silencer you have.

This is probably the nearest to a square-on rear view that I can manage.

(I have a standard silencer).

Bit of a long story....

The TT top-box was not in my original plans (I'm not overly keen on top-boxes). The box below is an Al Jesse box for mounting a top-box. Two reasons why I fitted it; first I needed an alternative tool and spares storage after fitting my Autocom where the tool roll normally resides. The cubby has a lockable door in the side and has useful storage for this.

Secondly, I wanted to be able to access both panniers when my Ortleib bag was strapped to the TT rack that I mounted on the Al Jesse cubby without having to unstrap the bag.

Eventually I found that using a rear seat bag was probably as much of a pain as just strapping the Ortleib over the seat and that a top-box would be better than the rear seat bag for the added security.

I bought the top-box second-hand from someone on this forum. The Seller didn't want to part with the mounting so I just bolted it directly to the Al Jesse box (funnily enough, yesterday I got around to fitting the Touratech mounting and have removed the Al Jesse box).

Mine are the 41 litre Sondersystem.

Touratech supply the same Sondersystem panniers for Remus and Sebring silencers but the cut out is different as is the tail-pipe extension.

Touratech part number 01-052-0009-0 for the 41 litre set (the 35 litre set is the same price according to their website).

The extension for use with a Remus exhaust is crap. It looks like sh#t and it gets very hot in the left case. And it damaged the left case and silencer:

I tried several things to improve this all, but the only solution that works for me is riding without silincer. Only a small extension on the cat.

One big advantage of this system is the symmetry and it's narrow (90 cm for the 41L system)

thanks very much for your help...ive pulled the baffle out of the remus , its held in with one bolt, i wonder if its posssible to extend the baffle tube, so as to exit beyond the case.also to fit a plumbers burning mat or similar heat proof material on the side of the case.then i would just put in a standard baffle tube to replace the extended one, when not using cases,what do you think?thanks again Paul
