I want to print four photos on an A4 sheet. I've made the image size 5" (that's the longer side) so that all four should fit comfortably on the A4 sheet.

So: FILE, NEW, entered the size of the A4 and the resolution the same as that of the photos (i.e. 250 pixels per inch)

Click on the rulers on the side of the photo and then pecentage, then drag guides across to 50% so as to give four quarters in which to place the photos.

Drag the photos on to the A4.

It's here that things go wrong, when I drag the photos to the new A4 sheet the 5" side ends up as 2" and the shorter side is reduced in proportion. I've done this without any bother at all many times in the past with no bother at all (none that I can remember, anyway) which makes it even more annoying.

Can you help, please?

I think I know what the problem is.

Your A4 sheet is 250ppi, but your photos are originally 250ppi, by shrinking them, you reduce the ppi too (depending on how you've reduced them in size).

Try just placing the photos straight onto the A4 sheet, without resizing them first. You can always resize them to fit once they are all on the final document to print.

Also, incase you didnt already know, if you use "Print With Preview" you can "Scale to fit media" just incase it doesnt quite fit onto your A4 paper (depends entirely if your printer does 250dpi, you might find it wants to make it spill over a page etc).

Hope you get it sorted!

Cheers,

Ali
