" Well I have persivered with my 29" legs and my 6foot 2inch tall 25 stone body! to manage to always have a big smile on my face when riding my 2007 GS R1200ADV, with that I have just decided to chop it in for a brand new sucker with the prem and dyn packs so I get to try the suspension!

Dont all cry "Poor Bike" with my Rotund body these BMW's are strong and German and all that Build quality stuff! lol:)

I feel like a football star as yesterday I collected my brand new BMW X5 and we have told the kids we have spent their inheritence! lol:)

So if you see a cold daft sod riding back over the pennines tomorrow spare a thought cos it may well be moi!

cheers

Big D :)

And??? Comon, you picked it up today? How fast does it go Mister?
Well I have to say I am very impressed with my new Bike although I have only covered some 100 miles on the 2009 GS R1200ADV it was well worth changing. The whole feel of the bike is different, Dont get me wrong I enjoyed my 2007 ADV but I guess the handlebar position is different on the 09? The gearbox is for sure far more responsive and smoother feel I did pull 7th gear a few times though that was properbly just me.

The ESA works well having rode 1000's of miles on Honda GL1800 Goldwings which have a rear Electronic shock and progressive springs I understand a little about suspension. And I have to say the permitations BMW offer even for a big bloke as in heavy! OK fat git! lol:) like me it works well. I guess off road would work just as good with the correct selection chosen.

The new bike did feel more solid and a little less vibritory? Guess thatss cos its brand new i am only reving up to 4k in each gear max this is just a little over 70mph. But she is deffinatly responsive and a nice ride. I have just bought from Nippys a new
MACHINE-ART MudSling - R1200GS,R1200 Adventure 08 on where it states will fit 08 ADV and on even with ESA fitted but having messed around with it for over 1/2 a hour I cant see how it can fit there is a black box for the rear shocker in the way, Maybe its me? And can you fit it with the pannier rails in situ? But if anyone has fitted the new Mudslliger on a 09 ADV with ESA advice would be good and most welcome!

HELP RE BELOW!!!!!

i to have just picked up a 2009 1200 adventure and ordered the mudsling from nippy normans. hopefully it will be here in a few days. i had hoped it was an easy task to fit but reading your post it might be a bit difficult !!! and whats with the 4000 revs, i was told 5000, good for 90mph (ooo err officer)

only done 225 miles but so far i love it. this is the first bike in ages that i can't wait to get out on. i went for the magnesium with premium & dynamic packs and the 3 boxes. my only problem now is i keep spending money at nippy normans !!!! i don't think 4000 or 5000 revs makes to much difference, i think the most important thing is don't labour the engine (hard acceleration from low revs or climbing a steep hill in 6th gear etc) i don't know whether i believe in the running in theory anyway.

Nice to know if they'll fit...

I was hoping to get one of these mud slingers from Nippy's...
But had heard that they dont fit the ESA models???

Will be interested to see how you guys get on...

On the subject of running in...

I was told to run mine in at no more than 5000rpm by the dealer when I picked it up...
Having read the manual (yep I did read it.....honest...:augie) it says not to exceed 4000rpm.

So who are we to believe???

Our R1200 RT P's at work were run in at about 5k, and on their first service, the BMW mechanic said we hadn't over worked them at all, and could have worked them even harder...

Nice one Derek - glad your pleased with it :-)

Have the Mudlinger on a '08 GSA with ESA and it fits fine

Best way is to get stuck in quickly.

Make sure it's under load as mush as possible (hills, acceleration, engiune braking etc) and don't go stupid with the revs (6k should be fine for short periods). Avoid motorways/big a roads.

The harder the engine works at first, the better the piston ring seal.

Just to let you know I fitted the mudsligger today No Probs re ESA.
1 little tip when you remove the torxe bolts use the new 2 allen bolts and washers that come with the Mudslinger as they are just that tad longer and are easier to locate and screw up.

Cheers
