Got my new bike after 6 months waiting but it dont feel anything like the 07 demo i rode last year...i.m hoping things are gonna smooth out as it gets more miles on it and i get more use to the characteristics of a BMW.

has anybody else noticed noticed a big change in the engine after the first service has been done. this is my first bmw been riding jap and harleys for last 20 odd years and his new bike just feels so different. maybe its just me and im not saying i dont like it ....it feels more lumpy than a harley big twin and i dont remember the demo feeling like it for the 275mile ride i had back in september :(

The demo bike had probably done a few miles. Doubt you wil notice a massive change after the first service but after a few thousand miles everything beds in and the bike gets a lot better - and you no longer need to check the oil level every day.

I think there may be another reason why the demo bike felt better. You probably caned it a bit as it was someone elses but you tend to be a bit more careful with the throttle when it's your own, new £12000 investment!!

abused throttle

think you could be right ...demo bike was riden alot harder and i loved it . :beerjug:

don't be too gentle in the running in period, give it some welly, my bike is running beautifully now because I treated her right from the beginning...

:oonyack

Enjoy it while it lasts

I have 70ks on my adventure and it is a just like my HP2 was a bit lumpy when it was new until the first computer up grade which smoothed the HP out. It was a bit disappointing as it lost its character, I like the adventure just the way it is. :thumb

Yes you hit the nail :thumb

My GS was really rough and restrictive as it approached 4k rpm, but as this was the max revs recommended for running in I took it as an indicator to not over rev. After the first service it felt like a different engine and it just keeps getting better.

Tried the new 08 GSA last week with 1300 mls on it and it felt sweeter than mine with 3.5k.

Ride it, enjoy it. It will only get better!:D
