Location
officially THE best place to live . . . . Wokingha
Suzanne and I, with Julie and David, did over 1200 miles in 8 days.

Bergen > Voss > Olden > Ulvik > Forsand > Stavanger.

Fantastic scenery, roads ideal for bikes, very few cars.

We should have taken a video camera, as still pictures don't do the panoramas justice.

great pics! The wife and I thought about doing the trip loads of times! what was the expence like, petrol, accomodation etc? from what i can gather thats the down side int it. chris

Chris

"Costs" were

Ferry - about £450 for the bike, me and the missus from Newcastle to Bergen, and return.

Petrol - about 10 Krone per litre (90 pence?)

Food - around 350 Krone (£32) for a Smorgasborg-style buffet per person.

Beer - around £5 per litre. Couldn't find wine in any supermarkets!

Accomodation - the Stalheim Hotel was around £110 per room per night, Ulvik Pensionhotel about £65 per night, but the fantastic Fjordblikk log cabin was only £400 for 4 nights, although it was self catering. Evening meals in hotels are extra.

We knew before going, and did indeed find that it was 'expensive' compared to Blighty, but then we did have a fantastic holiday and would recommend it. I think that's the final test of a holiday - would you recommend it, and would you go back again? Definitely!

Cheers,

Neil.

Wines and sprits are generally only sold in off licenses.

Supermarkets and petrol stations will only sell beer.

Eating out is always a lot more expensive than buying your own ingreedients

and I was surprised at how good Norwegian tomatoes are (only ate them in the North so I don't know how the southern ones compare)
