Can any one tell me what I need to do to get pictures from camera to the net (UKGSer). I want to post pictures when on my charity trip (see link) but dont have my own lap top. How do I go about getting the pictures on when using a local internet cafe without having my own program loaded. I can take the lead and program disc but sure I wont be able to load my disc on to there system.

I am hoping to post some pictures and stuff so it generates some intrest for you guys and hopefully will turn into a donation. :thumb

Get a USB Cardreader. The PC will recognise it as a "normal" mass storage device and use the standard Windows drivers. :thumb

Take one of these with you and it might speed things up

They cost about a tenner and you read the memory card without the camera software, you actually wouldn't have a problem on Windows XP, but the older versions would be a pain.

Just been and done the rounds of various camera and electrical/computer shops. But they all tell me I will need to load a program disc for the drivers (It comes with the reader).
Are they talking b***ks or any one recomend one that I can just plug and play.

Only if you're trying to use it with Win95/98 etc....it'll work with no drivers in XP ;)

They are sold with the driver cd for older OS's though.

Ah..... something I didn't think about :o

It depends on the data format of the card. I have one Panasonic that will go straight into a cardreader on any PC and a Fuji that needs software to be installed ("The disk in drive E is not formatted. Format it now?").

I can't recall if the Fuji will connect without software using it's own cable (lost the damn cable).

Hm. :eek

I have some of this in the cafe I work:

It'll be fine for XP/2000/98, no software needed, and if you ever walk into a cafe that's still got Win 95 don't worry about the memory card reader cause you'd struggle too much to load the pics that you'd give up :D

Link to buy it from your confy chair, no need to wonder around in the shops :thumb

Most camera shops will put the photographs from your camera card onto a CD quite cheaply... most internet cafes will allow you to use the CD to download the photographs!

Some internet cafes had slow machines, but a lot had Windows XP etc and it wasn't a problem. I bought an 'Apacer' to put the photographs onto a CD myself, but it broke two weeks into a five month trip.

We set up a yahoo.co.uk email address so no matter where we were we could update our website :thumb
