OK I might be missing something here... just hear me out

The misses wants to ride on the 1100GS as a pillion and I have BMW’s standard GS panniers and a medium sized top box fitted.
Is there a method of getting on in a "respectable manner" as she puts it, with the luggage and me the rider in place?

Without the luggage it’s a breeze but with the panniers and rider in place it's just making it all hard work… funny but hard work, leaving her behind isn’t an option either coz she has the money!!
A video link showing it being done would great help.
Thanks

She puts her left foot onto the L/H pillion footrest, and then stands on it and swivels her right leg over.
My 77 year old granny used to get on the bike that way :nenau

Not easy for the vertically challenged

If she has reasonably long legs she should be able to stand up straight on the LH peg and negociate her right foot either over the top box or the rear seat using you for balance as required. The panniers do make it harder.

You need you feet quite well planted to keep the bike still whilst she does this.

Alternatively you could try one of these :D:D

I just stick the bike on the centre stand and then after she has climbed on and slid back to the pillion seat, I hop on and rock it off the centre stand. It's a pain in the arse but it is easier that way as SWMBO only goes on the bike 2 or 3 times a year.

We had quite a laugh in the Chester BMW/Harley dealer’s car park on Sunday loads of people watching the performance, I nearly had the bike on the floor twice... I did think of getting her a bus home at one point!!
I thought there must be a preferred way to mount, but not being a pillion for a while it has had me stumped due to the panniers being in the way. I will give it a go tonight.

Many thanks for the reply

To make it sound like something less of a balancing act, while she's stepping up with her left foot on the peg and right foot moving over the seat she will of course have her left hand on your shoulder to steady herself. Doing it without that hand on your shoulder would be considerably harder, but more impressive if she can master it :D
