Pillion seat base 06 onwards?

Maybe someone who has the latest 'version' of the 12GS can confirm this:- one thing i noticed whilst looking at the the 12GS on the stand at the NEC show, was that the plastic base that the pillion seat fits on to is now a one piece item, on my 04 model it is in 2 pieces, upper and lower, also, on the same item, the semi-circle cutouts for the top box mounting plate bracket, are now moulded in, whereas previously owners have had to cut them out themselves. I can only assume that the new one piece moulding is cheaper to manufacture, but having looked/pulled at the show bikes base, it also felt stronger, any views on this?

no doubt BMW just waiting until they had produced X thousand units to recoup the injection mold cost, before retooling and opening a new mold to address the issues they knew were there from the start... the one piece design no doubt costs them even less... me, cynical, nah....

cut outs

i was mega pleased to see the cut outs for the top box mounting were factory designed rather than the hacking about done at the dealer when fitted - it looked sh-te previously.
