Has anyone had an issue with there pillion seat popping open all the time while riding? If it’s in the forward position and you slide back in the seat and touch the pad it pops open. If it’s in the rear setting it pops open as well.

I had a really ugly women sat on it but she fell off when the seat popped open.if you weren't so ugly , you could get a woman to sit there !
wear ? i know it's relatively new ,
lock sticking ? as in not latching fully ?
Probably for the best.I had a really ugly women sat on it but she fell off when the seat popped open.
Yes I can hear it click. I’ve literally tried everything. The only thing I can think of is the plastic post on the seat is worn. Can you hear it clicking shut when you put the seat on ? If not its probably not latching properly and hence popping up.
I have a similar issue with a luggage plate that wouldn't latch properly and popped up. As per above solved by either pushing firmly down until it clicks or opening the latch with the key and pressing down on the plate while releasing the locking latch with the key....... locked and solid after that.
Worth a try before taking anything apart.
I thought this was 1200/1250 section? I’ll check the spring. It's very likely to be the catch linkage that needs some attention, or the spring (Blue arrow) that's broke.
Not had the problem, but know that's the only thing that can cause it, it latches with the knob that's on the seat. Sometimes they need a firm push down.
Of course these pics are from a 1250, cos it's in that section.

No nothing stored. I’m beginning to think the mushrooms warn.Do you have items stored under the pillion seat that are preventing the seat from going down far enough so it locates properly with the latch mechanism? It could also be something fouling the locking mechanism itself or the lock sticking. Also check the mushroom on the pillion seat that secures the seat isn't damaged.

If the ball end on the bottom of the seat doesn't have a sharp clean edge on it then yes it aint gonna stay in place.Yes I can hear it click. I’ve literally tried everything. The only thing I can think of is the plastic post on the seat is worn.
I have a 1300GSA as well.It is, but your profile pic shows a 1300GSA, just wondered.
