PILLION SEAT RACK FOR NEW RT?

You take the rear seat of the GS then add the plate, take the rear seat off the RT and see what you are up against

Huge modification involved doing that...unless someone knows otherwise? Now, if I could get my mitts on a spare pillion seat base that would be ideal, as the SW Motech rack could be bolted to that? Anyone got one hanging about?

I have a pillion seat bag from touratech which is great And does the job nicely.

Thanks Puggy....is that locked on when the front seat goes down or can a scumbag remove it by cutting straps with a stanley knife?

I am afraid security is zero - scumbags can have it away in a second. I only put bulky non valuables in there like my lock & chain, waterproof oversuit (which I have never worn in 8 year sof RT ownership - why do I carry it about?), luggage bungys etc - but does clear the nicely carpeted and interior lit top box for valuables...

Binky, I have finally managed to look at your link in your original post and I see what you have now. The touratech bag comes in two parts, the main expandable bag and a soft plate piece that you attach to the rear seat section via strong elastic straps (it is designed to fit the RT) you then plonk the bag on to the plate- some Velcro holds it is position and you do up a zip on each side. Very easy to fit and remove, comes with carry straps to use as a rucksack which can be useful and the thing is waterproof. Quite pricey... I will see if I can find the link and paste it...

Ah here it is..

How do you then get on the bike, foot in between the tank and the bag ?

Yes can be a bit tricky especially if you have zipped out the extra capacity. But the convenience outweighs the aggro. For me it allows me to ride my RT into London without the panniers and hence actually take some advantage of being on a bike...
