Hi - the pillion seat on my 02 1150GS is stuck on. After applying WD40 to the lock and removing a couple of small grub screws which secure the seat lock; I'm able to turn the key in the lock clockwise yet try as a may I can't get the pillion seat free. Am reluctant to try prising it off with some form of lever for fear of damaging the seat. Any helpful advice appreciated please - thanks Aslan

thanks Franco and this forum

in fact the problem with my machine was probably rider stupidity - the rider seat lock mechanism was full of dirt from a recent very muddy adventure ride.

The whole experience did however cause me to become more familiar with my machine :blast

will attempt to share pics:

Pillion seats can sometimes be a problem to refit. The metal loop fitted to the seat seems to be very tight to the latch.
I fitted a couple of washers between the loop and the seat base to ease it slightly.May be worth you doing the same.

Seats.

I've just had the same problem with my riders seat, (pillion not on) following
a long trip mu and dust. Don'put too much force on the unlocking mech as it will break! I know!, just take the cover off and pull the wire with a pair of pliars, loads of wd left over night will possibly help.
