Mine are caked in weeks worth of road s**t (along with the rest of the bike), so they look sludgy browny poo, and when its hot the bike emits a horrendous stench that left me wondering whether i had run over something on my commute.
How you all have the time to look at the colour of your exhaust pipes is beyond me
Down a different road on the way home the other night, this road has no lights, try this bit be careful..... after doing about 160kph for about 5 or 6 kms stand up and lean over the front of the bike (while still doing 160kph) and you will see just how hot the down pipes get, GLOWING RED!!!!! same thing used to happen on my KTM rally bike, could light a fag off it.
By the 160kph is 100mph for you English behind the timers.
Oh and Stainless goes golden brown and chrome goes blue, like you said until it rusts then looks brown like stainless.
What about one of those industrial coatings like I had on the headers of my 1970 440 cu. in. Plymouth? They were silver Jet Hot coated, but I believe you can get something similar in black. I think that would look great.
