Just wondering if anyone has tried a set of Pirelli Scorpion trail 2 tires on the gs yet? Any good??

My original anakee 3's will need to be replaced soon and considering either these or the michelin pilot road 4 trails so would be interested in hearing if anyone has tried both.. :thumby:

Cheers,
Keith

Yes, I have a set on my 2007 R1200GSA, I think they are a brilliant tyre, very stable and all the grip you could need. I have also gone through a set (2 rears, 1 front) of PR4 Michelin and I prefer the Pirelli's.

I have just put a set on my LC replacing the oem Anakee 3s.

With 750 miles on them the 'new tyre' syndome (aren't these great!) has worn off and my 2p is that the Scorpion Trail 2s are a bit more compliant on bumps than the A3s, and the grip both wet or dry, is at least as good. The profile may be a little different as the rear A3 had a chicken strip about 5mm wide, but the Scorpion Trail 2 rear has worn to 1mm from the edge on both sides. The noise from the A3s on smooth surfaced roads has gone, but I noticed some noise from the Scorpion front when doing a heavy brake test (just to see you understand!).

Cannot compare to PR4, but had the Anakee 3's as stock from delivery in February 2015. Changed to Pirelli Scorpion Trail-2 about 3000km ago, and it is a difference of night and day. The Pirelli is without a doubt the best tyre I had on any bike, ever. Compliant, almost noiseless, grip to no end both dry and wet. Can't comment on longevity and wear yet; but as it is, this tyre is just brilliant. Right now - and without something drastically happening - I would not consider anything else in the foreseeable future. Of course YMMV.
