Pivot Pin Removal

Hi all,

I'm attempting to remove the final drive pivot pins, the LHS pin came off very easily(was heated), nut required a bit of force but the pin was only slightly more than finger tight, however I couldn't see any sign of loctite on the threads...

The RHS on the other hand is being stubborn, I've tried removing it cold(incase it had different loctite), aswell as hot(water sizzles when dripped onto pin). I'm just wondering how much force do you need to apply to undo the pins? With the LHS coming undone so easily and stories of stripped threads I've been fairly tentative so far so thought I would ask before I break something...

That is assembled and torqued to 160Nm with loctite. Heat and a big breaker bar on a single hex socket may be just what is required to undo it.

The book says heat to no more than 120C

Cheers, tried with a little more force(quite a bit actually) and out it came, no thread damage!

Next time use a hot air gun as the thread in the s/arm is alloy, but several on here don't use lock tight at all but if you do it needs to be really hot (hot air gun hot)to get it undone.
