Place to service my GS near Bury St Edmunds

Hi,

I am moving to just outside Bury St Edmunds and I am looking for a place to get my GSA services... its got its 12,000 miles service in about 700 miles!

Can anyone recommend someone?

I have used Cannons for several years and found them generally ok. I tend to ask exactly what they are going to do and ask them to do anything extra I feel needs doing.

My 200y 1200GS is booked in at Cannons for Annual and 12000 mile service in early September.

I can recommend Lind having had both my 1200GS and 1200RT serviced there.

I can't recommend Cannon having had troubles when having my 1200GS serviced there.

I think it would be fair to say that Cannons had some problems in the past couple of years (which I'm sure there are plenty of people ready in the wings with stories to tell) however, they have recently tried to put these issues behind them. I've not and won't be going back o find out.

Your other option is Balderstons at Peterborough. I've not used them but I haven't heard many complaints about them.

I used them over Cannon when I lived in Stanton and Thetford. Good bunch of guys. That was before Lind opened tho.

Hi All,

Many thanks for the info... I was going to steer clear of the Motorrad dealerships as I am now out of warranty... I have found you can also get a more personal service from an independent.

I dont want to be going miles out of my way to get the bike serviced... I live in Great Barton, and work in Cambridge.. so if anyone can recommend an independent motorbike garage between those areas, I could still get it done without take a day off work!

Ask them first

Do you have diagnostic equipment for BMWs?
It might be needed and from it the service guy can see whats going on and remedy and errors.

yep, I know about JAWS.. I met him on a ride out... very nice chap.

Thetford is going in the wrong direction for me really, unless they will do the service on a saturday.

I will be popping into see a local guy in yarmouth who is apparently good with GS's so will let you know if its any use to you as not too far away but dont know if he does saturday work

Mototechniks - Stowmarket

Hi, try Simon or Luke who run Mototechniks at Stowupland just outside Stowmarket.
They do all bikes including BMW's & they do have the full BMW diagnostic equipment. They are also very good on MOT's.
Highly recommended, no connection except they service my bikes.

Try Rick Holmes in Milton, Cambridge. Excellent -Dyno, diagnostics, MOT , and top man. Did my 1150, and does loads of 1200's as well. Fits tyres too.
