Hi there, fantastic forum first of all.

I've been riding on the road for the last 6 years, touring europe and the UK now and then. Before getting by bike licence i used to ride off road around my local area, owning Yam XT, Suzuki DRZ etc etc.

Recently dropped on this whole Morocco trail riding idea and it sounds amazing, right up my street. The only thing is, i would be reluctant to ride all the way there, and then do trail riding, to ride all the way back. Mainly because i'm not sure if i could get so much time off work, and also not sure how the Transalp would cope with some of the rougher terrain.

The better idea for me, seems to be a flight out then bike hire over there.

With regards to planning this trip, i'm having a bit of trouble with one of the first hurdles - flights.

Could any body advise where and when the best/most reasonably priced flights are from the UK?

As of yet we don't have a specific time of year so this could largely depend on the flights.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sam

fly to malaga[cheapo airlines]then hire a bike there.a lot of hire firms let you take them to morocco. hth. j

Just some info:-
Ryanair Luton to Marrakesh about £120 return if booked well in advance (pay £10 extra and get a reserved seat).
Marrakesh airport is 10 minutes taxi ride to City centre.
Book Hotel Ali (Marrakesh square) for first night (cheap and cheerful £25ish B&B).
Loc2roues http://www.loc2roues.com/ (5 minute taxi from hotel) hire bikes and kit. I've not used them myself but others have. I did contact them by email and they are very helpful with prices from about £250 to £650 a week (13.5 Dirhams to the £).

+1.

Try www.skyscanner.net to help track down your nearest budget flight.

Fly and hire is a good way to do it. In a ideal world you'd ride down but it's a bit of a hack and time off from work is valuable.

I dunno about Hotel Ali but Loc 2roues were fine for me. We stayed at the Dellarosa hotel on Moulay el Hassan for the first and last nights of our trip which was fine and It's a short walk to L2R and reasonably convenient for the Djemaa el fna. It's not that budget but that was a good thing after a load of other budget offerings throughout the trip.

Get on and book it. It's a good trip.

Morocco

My bike is being collected this week-end by Hanah from Moto adventours, based near Malaga. She is trailering the bike down for me to Malaga and I catch a flight out next Thursday to meet it. From there, across to Morocco for 8 day's riding. Return bike back to Malaga and Hanah bringing it back for me. She also has bikes available to rent.

Whats the connection to the Zambeezi part?

Why dont you ferry you and the bike from Portsmouth? Its about 400 Quid if memory serves.

When you going?

most budget airlines are flying there these days . . book early and it will be cheap. ryan air and easy jet are the cheapest (wouldnt fly ryan air if u can avoid it though. . . its the wrost airline in the world by quite some distance) but if you can bear being treated like garbage, and bear having anoying "promotions" forced down your throat the whole flight then go ahead and save yourself 15 quid). Both airlines fly from Stansted. the trick is book as far ahead as possible to get the best deal.
