WE GOT TICKETS!

Stephanie & I fly in to Heathrow July 24th at something like 6:30 in the morning, and hope to arrive on the Isle by evening.

I am expecting confirmation from a friend of a friend on a place to stay that Saturday night. I expect we'll be bushed! We'd like to ride the mountain circuit the next day and see the sights along the way. Then, on Monday morning its off to the continent for riding a rented BMW in the Alps, visiting relatives in Belgium and Denmark, and watching nekkid Germans cavort on the Costa Brava before flying home.

:DAnybody fancy a Sunday ride?????

Gosh hon - you've not left yourself much time to see the Island especially through a jetlagged haze .... but we will do our best. It's the beginning of the school hols that weekend - but we can see if perhaps we can meet up at Niarbyl for dinner and show you a gorgeous IOM Sunset taboot? How does that sound? We won't be riding but I am sure the others will be on here to take you around.

look forward to meeting you.

hi chiefrider

hi,i have a spare bike you are welcome to use for your stay on the island, its a 1988 r100gs,no charge, let me know if i can be of any help.robbie

Hi, Robert!

Although MANXPANZER graciously offered his Yamaha 250, a spare R100GS certainly would be a great upgrade. I've ridden a 1993 R100GSPD for the last 5 years as my main touring bike, so it will impart, no doubt, a familiar feel in a new (to me) environment.

We're still projecting to be on the Island the evening of Sunday, July 25, and ride with whoever would want to ride Sunday.

A couple in Peel has offered to put us up for the nights of the 25th and 26th.

This is so wonderful. I looked for relatives on various websites on the Isle of Man (my father's mother's father originated from the IoM before coming to America), but here I've found family!

Best regards, Tom & Stephanie

email; [email protected] (put Isle of Man in subject)

Your gonna have a great time - you'll be oh so close to my home town - of sunny Slough :D Leave yourself a bit of free time if you can, as there some great places to see such as Windsor Castle, Eton and so on.

And for those of you getting to meet Tom, be prepared to be entertained :D

Safe Travels - looking forward to your photos.

Dave

Isle visit update!

This is the plan:

SATURDAY, JULY 24: Arrive in London's Heathrow at 6:25

Ride the underground to Euston Station, depart 8:07, arrive in Liverpool Lime St. 10:00

Depart Steam Packet 11:30

Arrive in Douglas at 14:00 if all goes well. Meet with our new friends from Peel, with whom we will spend the next two nights.

We are very much looking forward to a nice Sunday ride. This, I hope, is only the first journey to the island of my father's grandfather. Plus, getting to know some of the riders on the IOM will be priceless!

Robbie, is the offer for the 1988 R100GS still valid? I am purchasing overseas (for me) vehicle insurance, and they are requesting the name and address of the owner of any bikes I borrow/rent.

Also, I'll need to figure out how to get to you and your bike on Sunday morning for our little ride. We're bringing our own riding gear.

I am reachable at [email protected]

Sadly, we depart on Monday morning, on the ferry to Liverpool, 7:30.

Today I am packing my own R100GSPD to travel to the center of the continent to the family cattle ranch near Wildrose, North Dakota. I will respond to emails whenever possible.

best regards, Tom

Shall I book Niarbyl for us all on Sunday 25th? Say - around 7.30pm? that'd be good for our meet up .. which I am finally able to organise .. having FINALLY had time to breathe after all the course work; being away in the camper with Hovis and IQ for the weekend in t'Lakes (FAB weather!!) and finishing off the next mag (printing tomorrow) ....

oh ... and the TT :D

I'll post about it seperately .... but if you would like to have a good meal out (around £15 - £20 a head) that's a nice place to go ....

see ya when ya get here and I'll email you my mobly number ...
kindest me dear and have a safe trip over,
Moo x (Amy).:beerjug:

howdy chief rider

heyboy!!!
all set for your trip to our little rock?????
down to one bike at the moment, xt600e, but it's in peel if you want it.
if you need a lift to laxey, then a ride in the fun bus can be arranged to collect the other bmw, and a sight or two on the way:) count me in for a ride on the sunday if possible and the doooo at niyarbl, cool!!!!
how you getting off the rock on the monday, driving a taxi for a living so a "free run" to the airport or boat can be done!!!!!!

Hi Chief, has Robbie been in touch yet? If not, let me know and I'll chase him up.

Getting around isn't a problem and if you need a lift anywhere and it doesn't fit in with Panzer just ring me on 00447624454516

At a push you could have a run on one of my bikes. I have a 1200GSA and a 100GSPD. The PD has a warped disc at the mo but is rideable with a bit of care. I'd like to promise that it'll be fixed by the time you arrive, but in all honesty it probably won't!!:augie

Need anything else, just ask. If I can't fix it, I'll probably know a man who can!

Dave

Greetings from North Dakota

...and the land of dialup internet connections--about 15miles from Canada, 45 miles to Montana, on the family cattle ranch! My trusty R100GSPD performed without a hiccup!

Manxpanzer--if the BMWs don't come through, the XT600 may be the ticket. Are you on duty with the taxi Monday the 26th to take us to the 7:30 am ferry to Liverpool? If not, I am sure my hosts in Peel will be able to take us.

Dave--my GSPD had a warped disc when I first bought it, and I rode it carefully for several weeks that way. I am adaptable, if that is my choice.

I haven't heard from Robbie yet, but, as I write this, I haven't read my email yet, and I've been on the road for three days (eastern Oregon, southern Idaho, Yellostone Park, Beartooth Pass, and eastern Montana) before arriving here on the farm.

The ta-do in Niarbyl sounds like great fun!

Tom
