Plastic Key, What's it for????

My 1200gs came with two spare keys, one of which is plastic.

What's it for?

Is it a special service key (like Fiats)

Can it be stashed on the bike and used as a spare & does the ignition security ring thing still work with it?

Also called the wallet key, as it easily fit's there. For loosing the "normal" key oh fcuk moments.

Its a fully working spare which is easily carried in your wallet

It's a sex aid. You know those blokes who go into the pub and deliberately place their huge BMW key with is huge BMW keyfob on the table, just to make sure that no woman will come anywhere near them? Well, this is the answer if you want women to talk to you. You go into the pub, put your tiny BMW on the table with the logo up, and every woman in the place will speak to you. OK, so it'll be comments like "bet yer knob's no bigger than your key, innit?", but it's cheaper than a permatan & 16 stone of 9carat plated bling

I wondered what it was for when I got the bike 'for about three seconds' then I chucked it in the drawer and forgot about it, till yesterday when I was copying me docs ready for our impending trip to the Alps.

For the last few years you've had to ask the dealer for the 2nd real key. Something to do with a warraty claim IIRC.

Seem to have started something here haven't I

FYI my 1200gs is an 05 model just touching on 40'000mls (just another 19 to go) I got 3 keys 'one plastic' I came across it whilst sorting my paper work for a little trip to the Alps. Thought I should ask the question as to what it was for

Afraid I don't have an 08 bike. Maybe I'll buy a 2010 bike, maybe I'll Wait till this one's done 100'000. Maybe I'll be old enough to buy a Harley by then

no mate the plastic key is exactly like the metal key - if that doesnt work then the plastic one isnt
