A warm sunny day was ideal for a short ride locally on my 1973 BMW R75/5 LWB.

Before I set off, I refitted Scrimminger’s Pulse Jet spark plugs which he developed over 10 years for the R100 BMW engines he adapted for use in light aircraft. The original plugs were proving not suitable as he needed to lower the engine operating temperature and increase the power output – both these were accomplished after many experiments over ten years.

I have found that starting is better and throttle response seems sharper too.

I have a BMW Nav V fitted on a ram mount (only on to charge the battery this time) and a small clock which is useful.

I set off mainly on minor roads, passing through Lt Bentley, Tendring, Gt. Oakley and into Dovercourt where I started to stop for photos as shown below.
After the last photo overlooking Felixstowe Docks I rode on to Morrisons at Dovercourt to re-fuel.
Then out along the minor road following the River Stour to Mistley where I took the last photo of the Mistley Twin Towers (a folly).
On through leafy lanes to Gt. Bromley where I re-joined the A120 and then the A133 to turn off the Wivenhoe at the traffic lights near Essex University.

An uneventful ride with the R75/5 behaving faultlessly as usual!
