my first time as an adult in Aberdeen, I got lost, asked for directions, turns out they were foreign sailors who spoke no english....

Round here they reckon Aberdonians are easy to spot.
Just look for the guy eying everyone suspiciously and with his hands firmly in his pockets.

Working at Dyce for the same company as bhud
Permanent move, so looking at houses to buy, but rental probably first.

Good idea to rent for a while - get a feel for the place. Hoose prices are pretty steady so you're not missing anything by not buying straight away.
Loads of great places within easy reach of Dyce.
Be aware that there are some bargain houses up for sale at the moment.
If you are tempted, check out the proposed route of the new bypass first.

Dyce is a right royal bugga to get in and out of at rush hour.
The bike will prove very handy indeed.
I think you'll like it up here. Aberdeen's a bit of a bubble - pretty much immune to the financial woes the rest of the country have been/are about to suffer.
And, of course you'll be within easy reach of some great biking roads.
Once again - welcome.

the housing market, "offers over" means I guess this is the minimum we'll accept. If the market is very +ve you've got no hope of buying one for that, but is there a rule of thumb for what is the usual percentage above the "offers over"?
