After changing my spark plug on the left side ok , ive gone to change the right side and after a few turns out the socket or plug started to tighten ,so i turn it back in and that too becomes very tight. Now the poxy plug wont go either in or out AND the socket wont come off the plug at all:blast. it just turns very tightly in either direction.
Has anyone else done this or no where there is a thread about it? i cant find one. Its very much looking like ill be taking the head off, something im not wanting to do really. Any ideas? :beerjug:

As a stab in the dark why not try heating the socket up and trying to pull it off then?

give me a call !!!

Hi there sounds like you have maybe the wrong plug spanner, happy to have a look at it if you like or if you can get it to Braintree I can get it on the bench.

Give me a call if you cant get it sorted on 07894 988610.

Mark.

I think Mark is right. I had the same on mine a couple of years ago and the plug sanner was too thick and wasn`t actuallt turning the plug:blast

plug spanner

Hi, I don't think you need to take the head off, just take the rocker cover off. I think that you will find that the rubber gasket that seals the rocker cover to the cylinder head is stopping the plug socket coming back out! 2 mins of a job. Then you have a choice:- turn down /or buy a smaller outside diameter socket or sort the plugs out whilst the rocker cover is off.:augie

no i already have the rocker cover off , the rubber is no where near the plug def not that. ive got the BMW socket from my mate so now ill use that. just been reading a thread on advrider they tried everything from heat to freezing ,end up getting out with brute force. i just hope srg bilco is right and my threads not messed up.:beerjug::thumb

If you didn't unscrew the plug far enough for it to leave the hole it won't be cross-threaded. I know what you are up against as until I turned it down, my plug socket was too tight a fit in the head and often got stuck, but never quite that stuck! However, I found I could just get a pair of pipe grips on the end of the socket and wiggle it out.

Have you tried squirting oil between the socket and the head to try and reduce the sticktion?

HHHHOOOORRRRAAAAYYYY!

got it out by turning and pulling at the same time. the plug came out to but put the new one in with the proper BM plug spanner, and yes im going to get a one of me own now. That was way too stressfull:eek:

just need to sort out why the bottom two plugs are running rich.

..cuz they don't FIRE all the time. Only when needed says the 'puter!!!

Do what I do.......
I swap the top plugs with the bottom plugs every 10-12K miles,*top to bottom-bottom to top*.
That way they get even wear. Works great for me!

Bm' manual, I believe recommends 24K miles between new plugs.
